    Yea but a handheld is smaller and easier to store. And you can get an antenna for it to put on the truck easy and mounts and external mic for it to use as a truck radio. Be cheaper anyways.

    Just an option. My dad loves using his handheld.

    Aprs and dprs are the same thing. Aprs is just analog and dprs is digital. It's the system using GPS to help locate you

    Go to aprs.fi and search KG7LSU. That my call sign, you can see where I have been and stuff.

    Well I don't have a hobby that includes talking to people around the world on a HAM radio. The only benefit I could see would be calling for help. For me, its just a fancy CB...and I don't use my CB enough as is.
