I was thinking about getting this little Mini 0803 if it's available in the US. Looks pretty neat and would be nice to have.
Anyone on here use Dash Cams if so whats your experience?
And What Dash Cam do you have?

I just got into dash cameras about a month ago. My wife and I had a little fender bender in out new Tacoma (wasn't even a month old), though the other person admitted fault I felt it necessary to protect our investment.

That being said I did a little research and purchased this one.

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DVETDSW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Complete garbage, I would avoid it. Would not record, rear camera would not activate, very cheap feel. I know it is relatively cheap but it felt like it was going to fall apart in my hands. I returned it and then purchased this.

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MGJCEQQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I also purchased a 32gb micro sd card to accompany it, as it does not come with one, total purchase was about $65 and free shipping with prime. I used it for three days and went a head and purchased the same setup for my other vehicle.

    Pros to this setup:
Small, able to somewhat disguise around rear view mirror
In my opinion excellent quality for the price
give about 5 1/2 hours of recording with the 32gb, does loop recording
Can pick up license plates of others depends on lighting and where they are positioned
    Night time recording is decent
    Menu is easy to navigate

    Cons:
Does have audio but is not amazing.
Has night time "led", some other models have infra-red, though this one is just a plain led, I covered it with a piece of black tape to hide it. There is an option to turn it off in the menu, I covered it to keep the entire camera black to hide it better.

This is just a brief summary of my experience so far, feel free to ask me more about it.

I bought 4 of its predecessors (0801) for my siblings. They work fine so far.

i also have 2 Blackvue DR500w cams for myself and for my wife's car. We never drove anywhere without a dashcam :)

I have had a couple of different dashcams installed, and have settled on the Lukas LK-7900 ACE. I have also used an off brand that died and have an Innovv C3 that is destined for the rear once I sort out where to install it. The Innovv was installed next to the Lukas for a while so I could compare them. Loved the compact size of the Innovv, though the picture quality was not as good. Colors were a little oversaturated and the picture was not as clear. The Lukas gave me a couple of advantages over the others.

    1. It has fantastic picture quality, 1080P and fairly clear
    2. It can take up to a 256Gb SD card, most dashcams top out at 32Gb. While this might not be an issue for most, I have this wired to my second battery and leave it running 24x7. OK I admit it, I am a little paranoid:D

I have a friend who has the Blackvue DR650GW and is very happy with it.

As these normally plug into one of your power ports, Yes they will start up automatically when you start the truck. I now have mine wired to my second battery and it runs all the time.

My $0.02, don't waste money on a camera with a small display. You can pull the memory card and display it on your phone or tablet, which is mostly likely larger than whatever the camera has. If your phone does not have a card slot, you can get a Micro USB reader pretty much anywhere.

Well unless you have an iPhone, then maybe you should get a camera with a screen:D

    I have one of these:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-5-HD-Car-...tal_Video_Recorders_Cards&hash=item2c9050176d

I made a mount for it so it hangs from my rear view mirror. I leave the screen flipped up, tucked away, so the whole unit is pretty small. I ran power wires down the windshield column and it starts and stops when I start and stop my truck. I have a 16gb card in it and that holds enough for about 2 to 3 days of driving. I drive a lot.

I thought this was a good idea after that comet hit Russia a year ago and a lot of people got it on their dash cams. I guess in Russia they have bad drivers and have bad insurance so a lot of drivers have dash cams. Never even dawned on me before that.

I have this one with rear cam and PIP display

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DVETDSW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Unlike the previous poster results, mine rocks the house (there are about 6 'versions' of this cam out there...I happened to get a good one....they are all generic chinese in a common platform...

already 2.5 years constant use, no problems. front cam, rear cam, PIP...I made a homemade mount and hang it below my mirror. the G-sensor is way too sensitive so I turned it off completely, (g-sensor videos are not over-writeable, so it ate up my card space...turn if off and now it rolls over when full, so I always have about 3 weeks of current video on the card at all times) and if you use the default 5 min-per-file mode, the video is choppy. set it to 1min-file and it makes awesome smooth video. resolution is not the best in the world but plenty fine for traffic and if there is an incident...

it was 56 bucks !!!!! and it works !! so I made out like a bandit

I had a version of the one the OP has in his 1st post... LOVED the size and function... perfect, simple, small. 3 of them didnt work right though - all 3 ate SD cards. None of them would save the last video after power was cut to the device. Look around on dashcamtalk.com. Got my other ones from reviews there and neither have any issues.
