Why you wasting your money on running 93 in the Tacoma? Unless you have a blower on that engine, you're just throwing money away.

When I bought the truck, I ran several tanks of 87 through it, then several tanks of 93 and went back and forth again a few times.

It sounds smoother on 93 to me. Pings a little with lower octane and the tick is less pronounced on 93 as well. I could swear it feels a little more eager to accelerate as well, but I have no way to test that. Up until 2007, they actually had a line in the manual saying 91 or higher was recommended and would give better performance. I've never had a vehicle that didn't require 91 or better so it doesn't feel like an added expense to me.

oh how strongly i disagree, it seems the guys with auto's cant tell but my truck has better throttle response, power comes in lower, and i absolutely have a noticeable difference in peak power which has been made even more noticeable by my CAI. trucks motor is louder with premium and its way more likely to chirp 2nd gear, it does however ping and feel sluggish to me when i use 87. No science here i know, but i just cant be sold on the notion that 93 is a waste.

I agree, and think I notice a power difference with my auto. On 87, it feels a little lethargic and you are conscious of the fact that you're toting a nearly 19 foot long truck. On 93, it just feels like it's more responsive in every way.

Speaking of blowing $$ on things...

I'm finally joining the modern age with a big-ass TV. :anonymous:
Bought a 40" Samsung on a Cyber Monday deal.

Now I've just got to figure out how to make it fit on the stand that I'm using for my current 27" unit...

Nice. I have to buy one for the bedroom. We still have one of the old ones that weigh a metric ton. I will probably mount it on the wall

I've got a Sony XBR960 tube style HDTV and man that thing is heavy - it's a healthy 200lbs min with most of it toward the screen. I figure I don't have to worry about it being stolen if I'm ever robbed.

What they said. With 87, I definitely notice a lack of power on take off, especially with the heavier tires.

By today's standards, that's still tiny. Have you seen the monsters out now?? They're HUGE!
