So I checked my pay stub, and the fuckers taxed my perdiem! How is that even legal?

Time to call up accounting and get this sorted.

I believe that it's standard as it's considered income to you, from a business accounting perspective. Make sense?? Not necessarily...

I know it's not taxable for us. Because it's per diem it should be considered miscellaneous not-taxable. It's not pay, it's to cover cost of living.

Since the IRS is involved I imagine it depends on if the company has met all the rules associated with a per diem plan. Where's Corey? Isn't this his thing?

That's what I found as well. I did get a flat amount, but had to submit an expense report to get paid. So, if the above is correct it shouldn't have been taxed.

Depends on how much your were comped. If your rate was larger than the approved federal rate then that is taxable but only that portion

True, if it was over the standard then it would be taxed.

I just looked up the numbers for Houston. I'm assuming I should be looking at the Houston numbers.

    Maximum lodging rate - $109
M&IE Rate (Meals and Incidental Expenses) - $71
Max Per Diem Rate - $180

I was paid $100 a day while overseas. I'm assuming the explanation I'll get is that they considered my per diem M&IE. Sure would have been nice to know that beforehand. I would have padded my hours a little to compensate.
