Joined a work party yesterday at the marina.
I was there for about 3-4 hours.

Came back out to my truck (2 months old) and noticed the windshield really dirty. Tried the wiper/washer, but only some of this junk came off.

Later I decided to wash her in the driveway. Whatever was stuck on there would NOT come off, and it was everywhere but heavier on one side mostly and really bad on the hood and roof. It was like small grains of black stuff. I tried everything. But i was afraid of ruining the finish cause this stuff was gritty. To get it off the glass I used Acetone and a razor blade. Thats how bad it is.

I left the rest alone because I didn't want to damage the finish.

Now I don't know what to do. I have no idea what is stuck on there. It is so bad it would not even come off the wiper blades. I threw those away. Its like it was hot and melted into the blades and the truck's finish.

I was parked fairly near the southeast expressway, but I don't think they were asphaulting or anything. and like I said this stuff is like grit. Its not paint because acetone should have removed it easily.

I am thinking detailer or body shop,

    I am quite pisched !!!![IMG][IMG]

    What do you guys suggest??????

Were you parked near any boats that were being worked on?

I think I know where your going.

I was in the parking lot, and there aren't too many boats even in the water. There is no land storage at this marina. So no boat work would be possible.

That's great news. I'm really careful where I park my truck at the boat yard. I've seen "professional" boat painters show up at a boat that has prepped, spray painted the bottom and been gone again in a total of about 30 minutes. I've had problems with idiots working near my boat and so now the yard manager places me in an area with a bunch of other fussy boat owners.

    Good luck!

Can ya tell if it's chemical as opposed to organic? Give it a whif. If it appears organic, HOT water test it. It may loosen it. Don't scrub, just work it gently but make the water hot.

I had her detailed today and the guy said its road tar crap and he can get it off no problemo !!! Got her back and she looks GREAT !!!! I am happy.

    SECOND ISSUE..........

I had to remove both wiper arms to replace the blades. This was because the truck and wipers got trashed by road tar.

Anyway after I removed them, bought the refills and went to put them back on, I found they were not only different lengths, but different widths too.

SOooooooo does anyone know which goes on what side ???

    Any help is appreciated.

Pretty sure the longer 1 goes to the driver side IF your wipers sweep left to right:)

wiper arms should be the same....but the longer blade goes on the driver side, shorter on the pass. side.
