For the past few months, I've had this annoying clanking sound when I brake, and when I accelerate from a stopped position. I also have that sound happening when I go over bumps at times. I suspect it's a cv issue, or maybe slop in the front driveshaft. I took it to the dealer and they said it's the brake pads. Apparently there are insulators that hold the pads on and apparently they wear out. Does anyone else have this happening? I don't have a ton of miles on mine, and the sound is loud and annoying. This is also the same dealer that told me that the thump I felt in the back of the truck was the rear diff disengaging, when I knew it was the driveshaft, and there was a TSB for it.

maybe it is the brake pads moving around in calipers. mine did that when I would go from revers to forward or after ard braking

Yea, I know. It sucks because this dealer is the closest to me. I'll definitely get a second opinion. The dealership I took it to originally said to bring it back on my next service which is in almost 5k miles and just deal with it. I was like....

I ended up with some clunking for about 1 year. Changed pads this summer and it's all good

That's good to know. I'm not terribly impressed with the brakes on mine. They also clunk like you mention, and seem to not release right. They also grab non-linearly with the press of the pedal at the beginning. Might try switching up the pads.

check your sway bar for any play.

that was the cause of my clunk

It's snug for sure. The sound is coming from the front end. That's a good suggestion though.

    That's a good idea
