Rumor Trend had cars and trucks in the past that won their awards that ended up being junk. Nothing new.

I saw one in person yesterday.... they look pretty nice. We will see how they last. GM already has another big recall. I know they are going to happen here and there, but sheesh, I don't know if I could ever buy another GM product again, unless they got their act together.

To be clear, the award is given to a new model that advances its class the most, not because it's the best. The Colorado won because Motor Trend judged it to have advanced the midsize class more than the F150 did with the fullsize class.

Tacoma won the award in 2005. It was eligible for the award again in 2012 because of the facelift, but lost to the F150, which got the Ecoboost engine that year.

November is the first full month the Colorado/Canyon has been available. GM sold half as many Colorado/Canyons as the Nissan Frontier:

I sat in both the Canyon and Colorado at a car show this past weekend. Here's some thoughts on them.

    - The GMC version looks much better than the Chevy.
    - The interior, though updated from the previous model, still looks and feels like its made from polished recycled water bottles.
    - The cloth seats are plush ... the "leather" seats are not. In fact, they are uncomfortable.
    - The nose grill on that thing is HUGE. From the front, it almost looks like a full size. From the side, it's blatantly apparent it's not.

Those are some very impressive sales numbers for its first month. Its off to a strong start!

Definitely shows people still want mid size trucks.

    The better coast
Does the f series include everything from f150-f650 (or what ever their top one is)? If so it kinda comes across as "ford sold more sedans than the toyota sold corrolas, so fords are more in demand" lol.

^Yep, as does GM and Fiat with their 2500, 3500 and 4500 (where applicable) models.

Note Toyota is running at full capacity and can't pump out more than 250,000 combined Tundra and Taco trucks per year, until the second Mexico line becomes operational.

Not sure if the push has started yet. Most dealers don't have many on the lot.

Hopefully Toyota isn't jumping the gun. Too fast of growth can be detrimental.

You will see the colorado/canyon numbers jump like crazy my mid Jan.

You could always drive to Texas and buy one in San Antonio. That's where mine was built.

As far as Toyota is concerned, QC is equally bad everywhere outside of Japan. :p Which is why, despite all the global expansion and cost-cutting, all Lexus models except the RX are kept in Japan.

To the best of my knowledge, no Tacomas are built in Japan. Usually Texas or Mexico.

I'm surprised this thing beat the new f150, that trucks seems more innovative then this parts bin Colorado.

Ford is only integrating aluminum into their chassis. And the ecoboost has been around for a good while. I heard the aluminum reduces the weight by like 1000 lbs or something. That's what all trucks manufacturers should do. It'd be a little more expensive, but we'd save like crazy on gas.
