Slick Galaxy Tablet setup

I had a couple of requests for more info about my setup. I built it this way so that I can see the Tablet alone and then my wife can stream tv/movies while on the road to keep her happy. The Tablet is hooked up via Bluetooth. I can control streamed music while running GPS on it and get updates about what is going on while on the road. It is awesome. Very distracting but awesome. This setup also has room for the Flyzeye (unlike Tech deck) and didn't require me to run power to the driverside (unlike the Proclip setup).

My only gripe is that it has a little wobble to it. It all comes from the Panavise mount. It needs to be thin enough to fit next to the AC controls and that means it has some give with this much weight. I assume that if I was running a phone or used a shorter arm this would be lessened or eliminated. I may buy another shorter arm just to see what it does.

I am running:

Proclip Galaxy Tab 3 holder
6" Ram Arm
2x Ram AMPS plate 1" Ball
Panavise Tacoma mount.

This is all plug and play type stuff and I like that it all runs of the AMPS system and I can modify it down the road for other stuff.

Hope this helps anyone out looking for a nice way to get a tablet in their taco.

A little. Not enough to make me hunt for a fix but enough to mention it.

Going over a speed bump or a bumpy section of road is where it moves the most but it's almost nothing just cruising down the highway.

 

Hmmm.. going to have to check the specs cause my tablet is 10.5" and though lightweight I'm afraid it would shake pretty bad

Other option is to skip the Panavise and directly mount a ball to the dash. There is a flat spot near where my Panavise is and that would kill any wobble as the ram arm is rock solid.

I've been thinking about mounting a couple raam balls to the dash to hold my phone and tablet

 

It would work like a champ with the ball mounted to the dash as well. I got the Panavise used and it doesn't move enough for me to hack a hole or 4 in my dash.

 

Would you mount them to the radio bezel or under the temperature controls?

 

I would mount to the lower dash panel just to the right of where my Panavise is....just down and over towards the glove box there is a nice piece of meaty dash to work with.

Red area is where I would mount...I would not mount to the radio bezel.

There are a couple of options if you go to the dash directly. They have a nice small diamond shaped plate you could use or a stud mount with a fender washer on the backside...I would get the diamond mount myself though.

You must use the square AMPS plate for the Proclip side but other than that you have a ton of options available.

Did you have to modify the body of the Flyeyes at all to get it to fit properly with the Panavise in place? Or does it really just fit proper out the box?

Fits right out of the box. That being said I had the Panavise in first so I was then able to install the flyzeye where there is space. If I was installing the flyzeye first I am not sure it would have worked. But everything fits together nicely and I am stoked to have both.

Also worth mentioning that I haven't updated here is the fact that ram arms add an amount of bounce that was more than I liked so I have since removed the ram arms and directly mounted the Proclip to the Panavise and it is rock solid and looks great!
