I'm interested in seeing a redesign. However, I've seen this topic so many times in the past few years and all it ended up being was LED taillights (09+), or new headlights, bumper, and grill (12+) and now a new TRD line (TRD Pro). Outside of cosmetic changes nothing was really done. I say bring the Hilux here and there's your redesign :p

Thank you! I'm tired of people always thinking that their Tacoma is the greatest truck ever produced and if you think otherwise than you're a complete shit bag. I love my Tacoma but in reality my 08 is no different than the 15 which should have had a lot of the problems worked out by now. An instance besides the frame rust issue is the latest recall on the leaf springs. Are the 2015 leaf springs better than the others? If so, then why isn't that the remedy for the recall?

I made the mistake of selling my Gen 1 QC TRD 4x4 for a Honda Ridgeline thinking I needed more bed. At the time the Gen 2 was just coming out and Honda wanted in the game so I got a killer deal and went that route.

Well, after 3 wrecks in the Ridge, I came back to Toyota for a Gen 2 2013 QC TRD SPORT. What a disappointment. I can safely say without a doubt that TOYOTA quality is NO LONGER a selling point. I sold the damn thing after 15 months.

I am going to see if GEN 3 is a COMPLETE redesign. If not, I am done with Toyota for good and going to give the COLORADO serious consideration.

As far as resale, the TOYOTA is so high because the sales prices are so high. Also, they are really the only game in town for the last several years unless you want an also severely outdated FRONTIER.

I agree with some above. This is NOT the worlds best truck. They could not get mine to drive straight down the highway for nothing. Alignments, tires etc. I just gave up and sold it.

The interior was total crap and HATED the seat pattern/material. I made those compromises myself on purchase because I really wanted to love it like I did my first GEN. The RIDGELINE deals dried up and the thing was just ass ugly. I did ride and drive great which is why I found the TACO 2nd GEN so crappy. I got the same MPG in both, but the RIDGE was much larger in all dimensions, more interior, trunk bed, swing out tail gate, power rear window etc.

Just saying, TOYOTA better step up its game. They may still sell the most cars but they are becoming the new GM, growing too big, too greedy and quality and fit and finish are going out the window. Trying to milk the TACO for this long is insulting to its customers. I know, we keep buying them, but why?!!

FORD wondered why the RANGER stopped selling with no updates for 14 years or whatever its run went.

My dad has a 2001 Tundra extra cab with 50k miles. Horrible frame rust, bottom front edges of both doors rusted and he barely even drives the thing. Same thing, crap interior. CHEAP, just like GM products used to be.

My GEN 1 was rock solid. My 86 BLUE MULE Toyo pickup was awesome also. WTF has happened at TOYOTA??!!

You should give the Colorado a try and give us a report each year :) I see a few older Colorados cruising around where I live. Mostly old guys but they look well taken care of. I'm curious how it stacks up

I am holding out for 2016 for the DIESEL Colorado. That is where its at. Power and MPG. Gives me time to evaluate the GEN 3 and rumored next gen RIDGELINE.

I am going to Detroit next month for sure to check out the TACO though.

Since I'm childish, no, you won't get power and fuel economy with a diesel. It will be a slow truck that is tolerable because torque makes it feel less slow. The numbers don't lie, though. It is still slow. The 28mpg Ram is 9.5sec to 60 versus the Tacoma that will do it in 7.6sec.

Since the Tacoma is already reasonably quick, I expect that Toyota will focus on maintaining performance while improving fuel economy. An engine and transmission combo that isn't from 2003 will go a long way to improving that. Figure on a 6AT, dual VVTI, smarter VVTI, and direct injection. I bet aero will improve substantially, too, because the 2nd gen Tacoma was designed in the zero fucks given era in regard to fuel economy. Hopefully they don't ruin the ground clearance and approach angles in the quest for fuel economy like a lot of the full size trucks have.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
The article says it will have new engines and transmissions along with a redesigned interior and exterior.

Yeah it does but it's not the first time I've ready articles like that and it turns out to be minor cosmetic changes. I'm hoping they stay true to that statement though!
