My SA put us on his list when he gets the details. He said at this point they had no specifics on the fix only that the letter would be coming.

I bought oem 4 leaf pack from FS thread here. I will take my paypal statement in and go for the reimbursement option since they will most likely only be doing a lame clip.

I got my letter a couple of days ago.

Concerning the clip: IF Toyota was going to go with this fix, why the wait? You'd think they'd just announce and do it.

It's all speculation at this point. We're just gonna have to be patient and see what the final word is, then make our own individual decisions on course of action. My two cents FWIW.

Design fix, manufacture fix, take shipment of and stage the parts at the dealers so they are ready when the fix is ready to be announced.

Agree but they could announce it saying you'll be notified when parts are available. The clip fix seems too simple/easy for it to be taking so long. I'm thinking it's more substantial but not complete spring replacement. Just my opinion.

What would be an alternative to either a retention clip or a spring replacement?

Develop fix , figure out how they are going to retro clips into existing leaf packs , create the tsb document for the techs , manufacture and distribute enough clips for potentially every Tacoma sold from 2005 to 2011

Just went to the dealer this morning. Asked about the spring recall and he said no fix yet. Told him I had a broken leaf spring. They are going to replace both sides with the four leaf pack no problem. We will see.

It wouldn't be a Toyota truck if the stock springs weren't shite! I don't know if they will ever figure that out.

The problem for Toyota is that the vast majority of people buying mid sized trucks use their truck to get groceries tops , never hauling or towing , and would bitch if the truck they bought didn't rode nice and cushy like their car

I got my letter this week as well. This shouldn't be a big issue, they aren't reinventing the wheel they're just springs. My guess is until they stock pile the units together for shipment nothing going to happen.
