The whole thing makes no sense aside from the stigma of an auto or even a balisong. A good flipper, especially one with ball bearing opens way quicker than an auto. Even faster if the safety is on. But I have seen some youtube videos of quick draw butterfly action. And the wave opening on the emersons and cold steel knives is pretty quick too.

My Spyderco is "waved" with a zip tie through the Spydie hole. Its open as soon as its out of my pocket, and I don't have to manipulate the blade at all with my hand. Just grab the handle and pull it out, instant blade deploy.

I will never understand the wave mod. I get what it's supposed to do but I want to put my hand in my pocket w/o ripping my hand apart

I'd never buy a waved blade, but this way I can see what the hub bub us about. Fixed blade EDC FTMFW.

I read an article on combat using your EDC folder a while back. One of the things they were big on was the element of surprise and being able to extract and open the knife with the least amount of noise. My Benchmade auto assist isn't quiet at all-so learning how to open it quietly has been a challenge. All of my folders, except the PM2, are easy enough to open one handed and quietly so I see why you'd want to use a tie wrap for the extra leverage-I've never wanted to try it only because I've cut my hands often enough on ties. :D

Sometimes I open my benchmade auto Stryker with the back of the blade against my leg or hip depending on who I'm around. Don't wanna freak anybody out. But my big ZT 0303 or 0200 freak people out anyway even tho they are just flippers :D

Especially since we get arrested if we get caught with a "switchblade".

I do that with my griptilians too. It's even easier with the benchmade 300 since it has ball bearings.

I want to get a benchmade with axis lock. I can open my CRKT m-16 just as fast as my sog flash 2 or my friends blur but closing it one handed is a bitch. I like my SOG cause it is easy to close one handed but I prefer a knife with no spring assist. seems like the benchmade is super smooth opening and easy as to close one handed

Personal preference. I prefer the tanto blade w/serrations but that's me. I like that it gives me more options in a single blade like cutting a seat belt/rope more quickly and easier. Some prefer a curve for the ability to sharpen the entire edge easier. I just like how the angles and serrations gives me more options and I do use the various angles and options fairly frequently. I just posted the same knife with the tanto & serrated blade a few pages back:

Again, it's all personal preference and I really wouldn't say either blade is 'better' or 'worse' than the other. I was just giving you a hard time since yours has a different blade than mine.

    You'll be very happy regardless

    Still my favorite EDC knife

I have the drop point partial serrations with glass breaker

I still firmly believe this is one of, if not the best overall EDC knives ever...It has a great feel and balance, it's durable, assisted opening...I can go on and on about this knife...everyone who has bought one after recommendation thru this thread has been very pleased
