Okay, so, I will be selling my 2011 Tacoma DC OR package.

Why: I want something new with features and something bigger.

What: I'm looking to straight sell to a dealer, I don't have much time to sell private due to school and work and business, so I am leaning to selling to dealer.

The truck: 55300 miles - one accident (cosmetics) a suicidal deer hit me and had to get new bumper and everything that goes near it, shows up on carfax. I owe 12k to lender.

So far: I went to a few dealers today to get prices, the highest I got was $22000. I was looking for 23k so for me, this is really good.

    My concerns:

    1) Do you guys think this is a good deal? besides the accident, the truck is in very good condition

    2) I love the tacoma, but it's too small and lacks features I want/need. The tundra is nice, BUT the gas milage on it is very unattractive. I really want to stay with Toyota due to my great experience I had with Taco and the fact that the resell value is so great. So, seeming how this is a tacoma forum, is their any thing I should consider looking at such as the ram 1500 or anything?

I'd really love the help of my fellow taco owners.

    Thanks!

I'd check it out and see if you can find a dealer that has a trade-in promotion (up to $2000 above KBB value) and see if they have a lightly used Ram. From what I've seen, dealerships can't keep Tacomas on their lot so they'll probably cut you a pretty good deal.
Also, if you have USAA as your bank, you can use their car buying service to knock their price down by a bit.

Personally, I would find the time to sell it privately. A few more K's go a long way.
Also, keep in mind, a Tundra mpg vs a Ram or other full size will be close but, what little you do lose will be made up in comfort, quality, piece of mind and value upon trade in.
    The best of luck.

I hope you have the money to piss away. No other brand is going to give the resale value that you have with the Tacoma. Your buisiness must do very good.

If you can afford to toss away that kind of money, the extra gas that a Tundra uses should be a non issue.

I get 14 mpg around town with my 5.7, 13 in the winter. Do the math. You can buy a lot of gas for the amount of money you are about to be giving away.

Sorry to point out the obvious, but it needed to be said.

Small, meaning not enough room for my self nor my wife, we feel it's becoming very tight on us.

The bed has been used a lot, so I will really like to keep it. I am keeping my options open.

I thought about doing this and seeing what offers I'd get with private, I just figured they'll see the carfax and walk away. In your opinion, what would you think a good deal would be for private sell with info I have given? I was thinking 25K but I'm not sure if I'm losing money or trying to over sell.

Although I have the extra money to spend for a new truck, I just hate going to the gas station and wasting more money on gas. One major reason why I want to stick with Toyota, is the resell value, and the Tundra is on my mind, I just do a lot of driving as well going back and forth from job site to job site.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
God not one of these threads again.. Bitching about your truck being outdated and small, you obviously didn't do your homework before buying. Unless you want an Ecoboost F150 or one of those diesel Ram 1500's they got out now, you wont see any kind of gas mileage with a full size truck.

I went form full size to the Tacoma and I agree yeah I do get lil better mpg then my old truck but you need to wight out the pros and cons. If you pull alot then I could see where you might need a full size truck. And I find my 4 door roomy.

Why not order the tacoma you want, with a super charger? While they are building the truck of your dreams, order a matching bed cap. Perhaps even buy an old modified military trailer to pull along when you need extra space for gear.

Not sure about your region, but here, tundras don't hold their value as well as tacomas.

I don't see OP bitching about anything. He wants a bigger truck with a few more features bfd right? :notsure:. He asked TW members for advice. No reason to be a Richard.

    none yet
You do sound confused. You complained about Tundra's mpg but you want a full size truck. It is a fact that all full size trucks/SUVs are gas guzzlers. The taco isn't that much better in MPG and it is "small" as you have stated. In my opinion, there's no perfect truck out there in the market that are roomy and have good MPGs unless you cough more $$$ and go with a hybrid SUV. That would defeat the whole purpose of trading the taco then.

You will get much worse mileage with a full size gas truck.

He will get a much better deal from a Toyota dealer going from a Toyota to a Toyota. The Tacoma is a highly desired used vehicle. Extreamly fast sellers. combine that with any dealer insentives on a new Tundra and he will make out better than going domestic.

A domestic dealer would love to have your Tacoma as a trade, but they won't be able to give you much of a trade in when you go to get rid of the domestic.

I know we all are pro Toyota here, but it just boggles my mind to think that he will be saving much money in gas buying a full sized domestic.

Of course with gas prices falling, full sized trucks are going to be selling much faster and incentives are going to be a bit more rare.

I own a Tundra, but I honestly love driving the Tacoma for everyday things. The Tundra wins when it comes to trips and Towing.

Whatever you do, don't take a test drive in a Tundra. Once you stand on that gas pedal, you are going to want one. These bastards are stupid fast.

I just can't see myself ever buying a domestic full sized truck (I think I threw up in my mouth a little).
