what amp for these subs?

i just got 2x jlw3v3 10 inch 4 ohm subs with this box

i know the mounting depth on the jls is 5.8 something and the box is 5.5 standard but i talked to them and they can increase the mounting depth by a little and it still fits nicely in the back when the seats are up

i was wondering what would be a good amp that isnt too pricey for my 2 subs. some people tell me get a 1000 watt amp but when i was reading the paper it says around 300-400 per sub so around 600-800 watts. ive been looking online but i have no idea what kind of sub i would need for these subs. if anyone could help me out that would be wonderful

 

I just ordered that box and got some IDQv3s that I'll be dropping in, and yes mine should fit, not to sure on yours you have to consider the magnet width and depth..that box might slim down fast and make the speaker stick out a couple inches.. good luck I had a tight fit on my last truck that made me panic, but then I just lifted the seat 1.5 inches and the went under. Good luck, but behind the seat you either fit or you hit...then you would have to move the seat forward..major PIA. I can advise on the IDQs later this week.

 

Those are the wrong subs for that box, that enclosure has .75 cubic feet of enternal volume per side and those subs need 1.138 cubic feet. With that said i wouldnt buy good subs then a cheap amp. a JL Audio 300/2v2 will drive those subs like you wouldnt believe but i dont think they are gonna fit in that enclosure and then behind the seat.

 

The JL 10w1v2's would be the right subs for that enclosure,they need .80 cubic feet, i have those and a JL 250/1v2 mono amp driving em in a super crew universal truck box in the trunk of my Mustang and you wouldnt believe the bass it kicks out. Its not the numerical number of watts that matter but quality that really does it. Good amps are under rated and cheap amps are over rated in wattage, plus cheap amps clip out a lot on thermal protection and just dont sound as good. Spend the money and buy good stuff you wind up doing it latter and wasting the money on cheap stuff.

 

I am a bit biased (look over at my name and slightly below) But the SAE1000D would work awesome and leave you room for upgrades if you decide to upgrade and need even more power.

 

Oh BTW running sealed you can go well over the rated power if you pay attention to what your listening to. I run the 1500D @2ohms so, 800-900wrms on my IDQv2's and they take it very well. If I and when I move onto the Sundown SD1v2 subs I will be able to wire it down to 1ohm and will be sending 750wrms to each sub and they are only rated to 400w a piece....I have ZERO worries. Before someone mentions Sundown being over rated, it is exactly the opposite they are well UNDER rated. Sorry if this is taken as advertising, it is not meant to be. Moderator please remove at your descretion.

 

I just got that box installed and you should have ordered the extra mounting depth for those speakers. I have 2 kicker cvr subs with a kenwood 1000w amp and it hits harder than my friends 3 10" JLw3v2's. I have seriously lost some hearing within the first week of using this setup even with the bass at -8 and the subwoofer level at 0 and the amp not bridged, these subs are too dam loud! and i'm no old man. Just get a decent amp and you won't wan't to push those speakers to their limit.

 

Sure looks to me like the subs are smacking the back of the seats to me considering the pics you show. Lets see how long they last with that "extended box"

 

supercrew enclosures are pretty good, the one thing i didnt like was the screws for the terminal cups extended at least an inch into the space. I replaced them with the right screw. In those pics i see a kicker amp not a 1000watt kenwood???

 

It's a kenwood amp with a kicker sticker on it Kenwood is mounted upside down

 

the subs aren't actually hitting the back of the seat, there is no rattle either. the extra mounting depth is for the top mount depth of te speaker, which increases to 5.9" mounting depth. I added Dynamat behind the box which also took up some space. The speakers should last a long time, and even if they don't, I'll just get some new ones.

 

Well one of the IDQs I got used had a blown voice coil, so i ordered some Shallow mount P3s. I got the amp installed and the box, but no speakers..its killing me.

 

well i ended up getting the alpine m1000 watt amp for these subs. centurion those subs fit perfect with this box if you get the extra mounting amp and they hit hard. it looks like the subs would hit the seat but thye dont once you put the seat up there is plenty of room back there for the subs to hit. supercrew sound made a very legit box for the double cab tacomas and sounds nice

 

So they did fit? The problem with those boxes is that the magnet hits the cutout for the child restraints. At least that was the problem I had trying to get some regular p3s in that I had from my old ride.

If they dont hit the seat they dont move very far? My rockford fosgates go in and out about an inch at the edges. But then again I have the ones with the 25lb magnet


edit: These are a way better speaker. And at that price that is crazy
