I am considering adding either Hellwig Springs or SuperSprings to my 2013. I would like to hear if anyone has had any experience with either of these or if there might be a problem with them rubbing the gas tank. I do not haul heavy loads, but this truck sinks down with even the lightest load so that is the reason for considering this. Any advice would be welcomed on these or would it be better to add a leaf? Thanks.

I installed a set of Hellwigs a few months ago.

The bracket near the gas tank was a bit tricky, and has me a bit nervous that it may rub the Ebrake cable but so far it looks fine.

I haul firewood, tow a pop-up camper, and tow a heavy (Boy Scout Equipment for campouts) trailer with my truck. No more squat/sag or bouncing with the load.

Ride is a little rough empty, but not bad enough for me to care, plus it's a truck it's supposed to ride like one IMO.

I'm very pleased with the Hellwigs, have no experiance with the SuperSprings but would buy from Hellwig again. They were easy to install and the price was right with a lifetime warranty.

Suggestion: get them from Amazon, especially if you have Prime for free shipping. Great price, quick free shipping.

I installed Hellwig 1251's on my 13' a couple of months ago. Only took an hour and had no problem with gas tank clearance. I'm very happy with them (I like the stiffer feel, but I'm weird), and they are perfect for someone like me who has a heavy load very irregularly. You might get some grief from the AAL or bags crowd, but if you need inexpensive saggy leaf relief on a punctuated basis, I recommend them.

Thanks for the replies. I will be looking into the Hellwigs.

A little update. Today I installed my Hellwigs EZ-990 helpers model 979. They are rated at 2000 lbs. I do not believe that for a minute, but they do make it ride better, more level, and the truck no longer sags under the weight of a feather. The ride is fine.

I will add this. If you are going to install these on a TRD be sure that you have at least one large C-clamp. There is no way to install the drivers side without one. I used two as it was too much stress for one of the kind I have. Also the front U-bolt only clears the gas tank by about 1 to 1 1/2 inch so I was a little concerned about that.

The bump stop has to be removed and positioned on top of the new leaf. The concern there is that the positioning bolt (centering pin) that centers the bump stop is too short now because the new spring is on top of the leaf pack and the bump stop is only held into position by the U-bolts and pressure.

Also the E-brake lines has to be adjusted out of the way of the new U-bolts or they will cut through the lines from rubbing. I just bent my support brackets on both sides a little and that took care of it. They now clear by about 1/8 inch. I will keep an eye on this as well as the gas tank and bump stops.

Other than this I am satisfied for now. :)

I'm also considering this route...do you have any pics of the trouble areas that you corrected? How are things now after a few months of the install?
