2012-2015 "Ghost Raptor" mesh kit.

The bottom two corners on mine, the mesh was kind of wedged against the surround but not really secured against it. I could push on the grill insert and it would pop in or out so on the screw seen below I used a piece of the surround that was clipped off earlier when moddifying it and used that as a bit of a spring washer to hold the grill down and in place. You could also custom grind a washer to do the same thing but it was just easier for me to trim the plastic piece to act as a washer and hold the grill in place. I have the same type of thing done on the opposite bottom corner and the grill now holds nice and tight.




I also added a couple washers up top where I didn't think the screw alone was doing a good enough job. A little warning though I can at times be a little bit OCD but it did result in a grill that is held nice and firm within the surround.

Yep, I posted pics of this washer trick on Page 18 of this thread. Without them, the corner was not tight against the grill surround.

I have no whistling and I'd imagine this could be the cause.

Actually that's not a bad point at all about the whistling noises some people have mentioned. Would be worth looking into for those who do experience any whistling.

Also just noticed your washer mod on page 18. Looks like you were having the exact same issue that I was. Adding that extra bit of support right there made all the difference.

Hey Homer, i think I might be upgrading to a 2012 front end so will be getting rid of my raptor style grill.. Any way to get the letters on these to say TOYOTA and have them recessed instead of popping out?

 

I've been asked that before. It's possible but I haven't tried it yet...

 

That would be cool! Maybe big enough to put BAMF letters in them. That way you could chose different colors for the letters. I'd deff be interested.

 

Has anyone designed the 2012+ kits with the raptor letters?
