Many questions to be answered that "They did great" DO NOT answer.

Okay okay, here we go. Even though I was at 32 psi in ice, thrashing on the gas pedal was no problem. The tires were self-clearing in what I was in. Don't know how they would do in thicker snow or mud though. In that picture I posted, thats as gunked up as they got. But in 4 wheel drive, the truck was unstoppable. They were as good in the snow as my duratracs. And we all know the duratracs kill it in the snow. Ask questions, and Ill try to answer them based on my experience in the snow that I was in

As a daily driver I run them at 40psi, I like a firmer tire on the road. I'm not running spacers either, the stance is perfect.

I got the Maxx last May. Still have no snow experience. I think the Maxx will trump the duratracs for sure in the snow, the lug pattern is superior by far.

Anyone have 285/70/17 with a 6" lift. Im getting rid of the 33/12.5/17 mud grapplers and getting coopers but I want the same size. Should I go 295 or 315 maybe?

Does that size clear with a 2-3" lift and no cmc on stock sport rims?

Seems like it would fit being only 265 wide.

Jared, you're the only person I've seen who has had both duratracs and st maxx's. How do the on road ride and noise compare? Can you tell any difference? Thanks

So you guys with or over 20k miles, any issues with balance or wet road traction?

I have duratracs with 12/32 tread left and they are horrible on wet roads.

No personal experience with them. I did a lot of reading and research on all AT tires before I got the maxx, which is why I got the Maxx and couldn't be happier. I already plan on sticking with the 255/80 again when my current set wears out cuz of my untouched full size spare. After that I plan on goin to 315 but staying with the Maxx. That's dedication to how pleased I am with them. That won't be till years down the road, still have plenty of tread left at 25K+ miles on them still. (Wish I clocked my odo when they were installed)

As said above I have over 20K miles, been raining a lot here in NJ recently and have zero probs. doesn't matter if it's first rain or been raining they still grip and perform well.

The ST Maxx are great tires, I love mine been playing with the air pressure and think 30 psi is the spot to get even wear and all the tread touching the ground, I'm just waiting till the new model comes out, I've been hearing rumors of them getting more siping and few other improvements... But just rumors and speculation as of now...

Awesome, thanks! i had a set of duratracs before the st maxx's came out and i was pleased with them...have been drooling over the coopers ever since but i always wondered how they compared. i have been convincing people to replace our utility truck tires with the maxx's in hopes of getting some real world feedback in varying conditions. keep in mind though that they go on full size (probably over GVWR) rigs. i love hearing how they do on our trucks and can't wait until my kooks wear out

I've been very happy with my Cooper ST Maxx (255's) tires. They have been awesome in all conditions so far. They have been an improvement over my Cooper ST's in every way. Oddly enough they have less road noise then the ST's. I've been out on one mellow snow wheeling session (Iron Clads via Bunce School Road, Northern Colorado) that included some pretty steep climbs & Colorado rock with about 6-10 inches of snow. All in all my truck seams to like these tires.
They are wider and more square than the ST's.
They also served me very well climbing out of the White Rim on Mineral Bottom in the PUKING rain....to say that it was greasy was an understatement. Considering that there are huge signs warning drivers not to attempt the climb when wet, we were very relieved when we reached the top. We would have been super-F'ed on standard AT rubber. It's a mellow climb when dry, but in the rain it was hairy.
I run 40 psi on the road and between 20 and 25 psi off road. As they are a stout tire designed for heavier trucks airing them down yields very positive change in traction and trail manners. They have not chipped or chunked like the ST's and appear to be wearing well. I've already put (IDK) 20k+ miles on them and as of now I would buy them again in a heartbeat. Anyway, that's my $0.02
