I have a new 2015 Tacoma on order, but won't be here until around first of 2015 . Do I cancel the order and wait for the new 2016??

This happens every year, somebody posts this exact thing except the digits change lol

I have a feeling they won't change anything once again

Normally, I would agree with you. However, I am quite certain the 2016 will have significant change. In fact, as much as I dislike Detroit, I'll be attending the auto show to see the new Tacoma.

That's a hard decision. The thing is, the current gen truck has already been established. Most quirks worked out other than some people haVing some vibes. It's hard to say if the new generation will have any significant issues, or whether they will be prettpretty well worked out.

Just go with what your gut tells you. If you feel you'll regret getting a current tacoma while the new one is right around the corner, then cancel and wait for the new one.

Toyota has already announced a new redesign.

They might change it just because of the colorado, but i would keep it the same just to rub it in Chevy's face because the tacoma is still outselling it.

I haven't seen one in person yet, but one of my coworkers said the colorado is hideous.

I do hope they change the tacoma though, although I feel it looks awesome as is.

A new generation would probably have more "bugs" than the previous year in my opinion.

the new Colorado looks pretty nice. I like the body style. I test drove one and liked it. But it's a GM product so yeah. I didn't buy it.

Also be interested in seeing resale value of the colorado. The last generation didn't do well.

its currently 2014 and it takes over a year to get a 2015 ordered tacoma that is quite possibly sitting on a lot within a reasonable distance of you?

How are you waiting over a year for a 2015? I made a deal on a 2015 in August and was driving it 10 days later.

As far as your query goes... do you want a new truck now (well, in a year) or much later?

I get the feeling Toyota is rushing this 2016 model out in lieu of so much hype around the new GM mid-sized offerings. This is never a good tactic by any manufacture, and Toyota isn't immune from this because of their perceived quality and reliability.

I also don't like so far what I've seen for speculation and renderings of the new truck. There appears to be a lot of the refreshed Tundra and new Highlander influence in the design language. I.e big ole cheesy looking grille, l.e.d. Daytime lights, probably a boat load of chrome bling like the Tundra will be likely. My gut tells me the new truck will probably sit lower, and look less aggressive to improve mpg's. I'm sure the interior will improve immensely though, that is my biggest complaint with my '14. Not the features exactly, but quality of dash, odd rattles at times etc..

After reading the '81 Toyota thread, I have a feeling the 2nd gens will be the classic that the old '81 truck was. And if the '16 is watered down and hideous, you will kick yourself for not having one of the last sought after gens.

As an example, the new model doesn't always mean better. I thought Ford would have nailed the new Mustang. 2010-2014 was so sexy and menacing, I don't know how many have seen the new 2015, but it is hideous in my eyes, compared to the previous. Even if it drives and performs better than the outgoing car, it just look terrible.

If my truck got wrecked tomorrow, I would try my darnedest to find a left over 2014-2015.

I bought a 2005 Tacoma. I felt confident buying a first year product made by Toyota.I could NOT have been more wrong!!!!.Too many issues with it. NEVER buy a first year vehicle from anyone. (collector cars exempt)

I'm not waiting a year. I ordered the Tacoma on 7 November and the dealer said 4 to 12 weeks. A few days ago, I contacted the salesman to see if he had further information, and he called Toyota and found it wasn't even in the the next "batch" to be made. So "next year" would really be January, maybe 90 days.

Your OP reads "around the first of 2016", hence the confusion. That's a year away.

Wait, always wait. In fact wait for the 5th gen in 2021 if you want the diesel option. Trust me I saw spy pics!

I'm in the same boat. Thinking of buying a 2015, but will wait until Jan to see what the new gen looks like. Gut feel tells me it's going to be a softened down version of what we have now. Based on the renderings I've seen, 2nd gen is looking better.

There's always an argument to wait:

Wait a year for the 2016 3rd gen. (when it's not known for sure what it'll be)
Wait 2 years to get the 3rd gen 1st year kinks worked out.
Wait 3 years to get more of the 1st year kinks worked out.
Wait for 4th gen. (which will be able to fly! I read it somewhere)

Still always comes down to "Do you want new truck now or later?" -- there's always an argument to wait, the argument not to wait is "I want it now".

Very true. In reality, the only vehicles that excite me today are motorcycles. Cages of any type mean little to me. I have a good 2010 AWD Vibe, so not really in urgent need of another cage, other than the fact I'm giving the Vibe to my daughter when my new Tacoma arrives.
