    I just did mine using this guide. 150k miles and my taco is still running like new. Thanks!

    One item that made it much easier is that I have a spark plug socket on a hinged swivel, especially on the driver’s side.

    Another tip is I used a very thin layer of axle grease (waterproof type I use on my motorcycle) on the rubber boot on the coils. They looked dry. Greasing them up a bit brought them back to life. I let them sit for a few minutes then I wiped off all the excess with a towel and they looked brand new.

    I am at 35k doing the first change of spark plugs, should I get the original spark plugs or which ones are recommended? Thx

    Another option for you is the
    $10 NGK LFR6C11 NGK (7787) LFR6C-11 V-Power Spark Plug, Pack of 1
    NGK LFR6C11. The stock truck comes with NGK on one side and Denso on the other. I tried Denso the last 30k miles so I went with NGK this time around. I can't tell the difference.

    the NGK's don't hold gap as well as the denso plugs.

    They say they gap them, but it's best to double check them yourself.

    1/4" ratchet is easier to get into some spots. A 3/8" will work, but its best to have the correct tools at hand.

    Im digging it. Ive been able to get up some obstacles to lend mechanical aid to some folks in a tough area, that surprised even myself. Its capability climbing exceeds mine. :eek:

    Great write up Chris, Truck was running like shit, changed the plugs today, runs great now. took me an hour, wasn't bad. Had 80000, and that was the 1st plug change.

    Did mine today. Chris, thank you for the great write up! That front drivers side plug is a PITA.

    I bought my truck at 130K. It has 133K now. The Denso plugs had gaps ranging from .070-.075 and the NGK plugs had gaps from .075-.080. :eek: Could they be the original plugs? I would think that if they were ever done, it would've been Denso's all around.

    I did plugs on my Tacoma few weeks ago. NKG plugs were on one side and denso on other side. Tacoma has only 41k miles btw. I got truck from the first owner and in all maintenance records I couldn't find spark plugs replacement, even they are due every 30k miles.
    My NKG plus were with about 0.50 gap and Denso plugs were with about 0.44 gap. If you find NKG plugs on your truck it is possible that they are original. Anyway I dont see any difference in how my truck run and gas usage since I replaced spark plugs.
