Hopefully this truck will wake Toyota up and they will finally introduce a new Tacoma that can compete with the Colorado/Canyon.

I hate when articles post pictures of the Hilux implying that it is the new Tacoma.

That looks like the previously announced recall, I did see though they have a new recall for "BRAKE VACUUM PUMP FUSE VALUe"that was issued December 3rd. I also saw they already have a TSB on the 3.6 in them for major engine failure..." Summary: BUICK/CADILLAC/CHEVROLET/SATURN/PONTIAC/ GMC: VEHICLE EXPERIENCE LOWER END SQUEAK OR SQUEAL, KNOCKING NOISE OR SEIZED ENGINE POSSIBLY THE MAIN BEARING OR ROD HAD FAILED. *PE" that was issued Nov. 7th.

Gm has a hard time with reliable electronics is seems, my 05 Colorado i had was an electrical nightmare.

    Wasn't this a Dilbert Comic? :D

I ran an 84 SR5 access cab into the ground.
    Went halvzies with my Pop.
270k+ miles of hauling lumber, tools, glass, drywall and anything else I could cargo strap to it. Plowed enough snow to build Everest. We probably estimated a million dollars gross in jobs using it.
It still ran, but the cab was so rotted and the frame so beat it practically went down the road sideways.
I swear the truck itself told me it loved me too but it was time to let go.
I wept as we parted it.

However if I'd ever gotten in an accident in this truck, I'd of died. The cabs folded like paper and the steering wheel was a spear.
Now with the airbags and such, you got a fair chance of surviving most wrecks.

Besides all the 'fan grlz/boys' a good many companies used to run little pickups.
    I don't need a 10mpg 2500, F250, Tundra etc. to haul a fat guy with a tape measure and 2 traffic cones.

GMC Canyon ran the Ike Gauntlet. 5600 lb horse trailer in 7:54. Only other mid size to try it was the Frontier and it did it in 8:37. It was towing a sleeker boat but 140lbs more weight. They were really impressed, it revved but got it up quick at 80% of its tow rating.

They challenged the Tacoma which they hope to run this year. Would be a great comparison comparing the 4.0 versus the new twins and the 4.0 Frontier, plus would give a good baseline if they go the 3.5 with 300+ hp route for the next gen.

I saw that too last night. I'm really interested in seeing how the Tacoma performs in comparison. What I didn't like is that they previously had a rule I thought about going the speed limit where possible. Where it wasn't possible they would try and maintain it (and usually fail) with other vehicles. This time they were flooring it and clearly breaking the speed limit in the area in the earlier section of the climb.

While it wouldn't be fair, I'd love to see a supercharged Taco do it too. 1:1 it wouldn't be fair but that's what I'm looking at doing and if my options are SC taco or n/a Canyon, then that's what I'd like to see tested.

Based on the shape of the rear-tail light I'm going to go out on a limb and say this isn't the redesign we're looking for, rather, the Gen2.2 facelift (2.1 being in 2012)
