285/75/16 on stock rims

Hey guys..ive been looking and looking on a few different sites and still cant find the full answer to my question. Right now i have an 08 4x4 tacoma with the rugged trail package with the stock rims. I have lifted the truck 3 inches with a procomp lift. I am looking to put new tires on and would like to put 285/75/16. Will these rub with the stock rims?

u will need wheel spacers and yes a little trimming is neccesary

 

all i have heard is if you do that you will rub on your uca's so no. you can buy new uca's, put spacers, or buy new rims

 

i have heard a few things about spacers being bad...they add stress, they dont allow the wheel to properly mount causing vibrations..how many of these are actually true?

I got the same situation going on. I just put my Pro Comp on and waiting for my rims. What size spacers would one need for no rubbing????

 

I run that size tire on my stockers. I have Total Chaos uca's. But I added the 1.25" spidertrax spacers. I wheel pretty hard and have no issuea at all. Just minor trimming to the fenders (you cant notice)

Yes sir. I have a few pics in my gallery. Only thing is that it BARELY rubs the cab mounts when turned and fully flexed. I offroad a lot and never notice anything when offroading. I only noticed it when testing it at home. They do have a body mount chop mod but it is not necesarry for me in my opinion.

 

i wont be wheeling too much and if i do its nothing serious so im sure it wont be an issue for me. but you gave me the reassurance that i needed becuase i dont mind a little bit of wheel well trimming for the bigger tires. here is my truck btw http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/new-members/53218-hello.html pictures at bottom of page

 

This guy is selling spidertrax spacers right not. They are $100 for a pair of 2. So if you want you can buy these. I put them on all four wheels because I wanted everything to be even.

ya that is what i was thinking..getting them for all 4 tires. and thanks for the comment on the green lights. cheap and easy mod, lights on floor light up with drivers door open and closing

If you need them soon you can always buy the fronts, then get the backs after.

 

Im tryin to figure out what to do. Right now i have BFG rugged trails that came with the truck. They are p265/75/16 and have a hard time believing that the tires are over 31" like they are said to be. I dont even think they break 30". Does anybody run a 3" lift with stock rims and 265/75/16 or should i stick with the 285s with spacers?

You can run 265/75/16 w/o a lift an no rubbing.

 

Yes i have already looked at the tire calc. I just would like to see what people think about 265/75/16 vs 285/75/16 on a 3 " lift because that is what i have.
