Having gone 250k, Aug 2016 was the time to replace the original clutch & get the driver's seat rebuilt/stuffed. Front & back Weathertech liners. '05 Tundra front disc brake swap. Full length Rocky Mountain Rack with 40" lightbar, Alternating strobe rear dust lights. I used a warm weekend in March 2022 to finally install my brand new from old stock 2000 4Runner driver's seat. $800 directly from the factory in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan.
I know it's still 170 days away at this point, but who all is interested in going via the Kokopelli Trail from Loma/Fruita, CO to Moab, UT? I've taken my whole work week of May 25-29 off to allow extra days for that trail. I realize that 140 miles not that much but I'd be perfectly happy arriving at Area BFE the evening of Tuesday the 26th.

That Steamboat Spgs, CO to Hog Back Res, WY run I did with Squeaky Penguin last summer covered about 100 miles in 19 hours. It made me realize that I don't have the endurance I used to. Also, that I may need my driver's seat to be re-stuffed/upholstered because of my left side hip down getting painfully cramped.

if the interest grows for overnight/long routes into moab, we can coordinate multiple route options to keep group sizes manageable...there's many options depending on which area you wish to start from and how many days you wish to make the route last..from 1 to 3+days

either way...please let me know if there are groups taking overnight routes into the event, so i know to keep an eye out in case something happens...no need to get lost out there without letting us know where you'll be coming in from...

Was that loop that many miles? I wasn't paying attention, but yeah, a lot of seat time nevertheless.

FWIW, the Kokopelli is way rougher than that was. When Zach and myself ran the Kokopelli on our way into Moab this spring, it was just about 180 miles from the official trailhead into Moab. This included Top of the World. I believe the bike trail is the 140 number. We put in over 100 miles the first day, and were absolutely exhausted.

As Bob said though, there are numerous routes you can take. We followed the trail as closely as possible, and used this guys writeup to navigate the bypasses.

    http://www.myxj.net/blog/kokopelli-4x4-trail/

The only real deviation we made from that was taking Cottonwood canyon, which was an interesting section in itself and provided a beautiful camping spot:

    IMAG0621_zpsndkzbyt3_39a55b84b5d0770b341db743154ca3cab65a290b.jpg

BTW, I never did get around to typing up a better description of those bypasses. Using that write up, and some good national Geographic maps, we did all right. The Cisco wash took some pondering though. Not easy to find your way through there. And there was a lot of checking the map throughout.

Anyways, don't believe I want to run it again this year, but let me know if you want some more insight.

While it may count given the reasons, Fun isn't what I would call a trail that you have to winch every obstacle. haha

You need to re-run it now that you are SAC'd! Should be able to do it without a winch. Widowmaker is still iffy, but I think you can do it as tall as you are. That's 2500lb winch should help a ton!

It's going to be my first time out west for off roading and stuff so I'd be very interested in doing it. I've heard great things about it.

For the East Coast crew: if we're leaving the 27th (wednesday) do you think a back trail into the park would be doable the last day or should we just go straight there?

 sadly i only have a few more pictures. Our group likes to run trails pretty fast, so even getting that footage was a lot of work.

Check out let years pics and video thread. Waaaay more pics and videos from everyone else. Should bring some stoke for a little while.
