I need help deciding what to do for a dual case/ crawl box setup. the only ones I'm aware of are the TG, Low Range and Marlin.

I like the marlin kit the best it seems like the best deal but the last time I talked to them he said not to even bother because he had no idea if it would ever be back in stock.

I don't know if one is better than another dual cases or crawl box or maybe thats the same thing im just confused. maybe someone can shed some light.

The lowrange is an inchworm case setups low range bought inchworm..which is basically a marlin, they share a majority of all the parts. You'll ne fine with it.

The TG one is a gear case though which is kinda cool in some ways and not in others. It isn't a chain case like your current one. You'll loose shifting into 4wd on the fly. But it is supposed to be stronger.

Inchworm/low range will be fine though.

yeah I knew lowrange bought them out, I feel like Inchworm used to offer way more options though I recall them having a tacobox like the marlin one, doesnt look like they have one anymore.

thats what i need right? i would just supply the reduction box myself right?

talk to jberry. he has ebc brakes. but i agree thats little extensive wear.... im betting your rear brakes arent adjusted correctly, putting even more priority on the fronts which leads to them wearing quicker. im still using factory brakes. adjusted correctly with stainless lines all the way around. thing stops just fine:D

    This is the "taco box"

    http://www.lowrangeoffroad.com/built-tacoma-double-case-setup.html

Should have an adapter with it already.

I'd get the triple stick setup too. I have a link to it some where.

I have this exact setup with a good amount of miles on them, For the price I should've just done the tundra brake upgrade and bought cheap pads and rotors, but I didn't want new rims

    This seems way low.

My first set (factory, from brand new) lasted to 50K, I changed out the 2nd set at ~85K (non-OEM with slotted rotors and special pads). Surprisingly, still on that 3rd set (OEM rotors and pads) at 141K. So going on 56K on this set and they still have a lot of life left in them.

The rear brakes are all original. Last time I looked, they were about 50%.

I think you have nailed it exactly. Using OEM pads and rotors and keeping the braking balance front to rear is key to long wear.

Having said that, I will do the tundra brake updrade as soon as this set of tires need replacing.

Im pretty dead set on a first gen. My whole family has them. They are just bomb proof lol. I have, however, been having dirty thoughts of a V8 4th gen 4runner. Drove one before I bought my first gen, and I must admit that it was awesome lol

That's possible. I do have a 3.5" BPV bracket, on the highest setting, and the adjuster rod adjusted about 1" up from stock. So that shouldn't be the problem.

I did change out rear shoes over a year ago and think I adjusted everything correctly with the clicker wheel and that stuff. Aren't those suppose to adjust automatically too? It was only my second time doing brake shoes though, so I wouldn't put it past me to do something wrong. Anything in particular I should check for Jace?

See above. Also, I know Jace has said that there is a specific proportion of front to rear brakes, 70/30 IIRC. There is a way to test this, which I have never done, and don't think many have.

I take it a fair amount is more than me?

I did this upgrade purposely as opposed to the Tundra mod in case I ever wanted to run 15"s. I though it was a better solution for my needs.

And, here's what the pads look like. I ended up just cutting off the wear indicators so I didn't have to listen to them. I'm sure they have a little life lief in them too. Maybe just excessively large wear indicators :D
