    Starting over.......
I pulled the float for my Sons scout troop in the Santa Clause parade yesterday and was able to power all the lights on the float along with the music from the bed outlet..... so simple!

All lights were LED so very little power required.

How did you secure them outside of the tonneau? Mine has the Velcro all the way down the sides.

I just pull them tight on the frame that it velcro's to. Then wrap it on a tie down on each side. I have a little space between the cover and rails.

I wish I had done that. Last year I left too much slack and the lights were rubbing against my paint for a month. Now I have about 100 small scratches in the paint.

Yeah. I also adjust them as they tend to lossen throughout use. And I put electrical tape on the ones against the cab to keep from rubbing and scratching. Before I taped them I used to hear them scrapping on the cab, and it drove me nuts. Like that nails on chalkboard / trail pinstripes sound.

Awesome, I'd like to see how you secure it to the bed. I feel like it might just fall over at 70 MPH if I were to do this in mine haha.

    Done!
Two tie wires from the trunk up to the roof rack and two tied from the trunk back down to the bed rails.
Last year I put a couple thousand long, fast miles going 80+ on this same setup and had no problems. Couple hundred zip ties for the branches and light wires and one for every ornament.
I did lose an ornament or two and the angel I used last year about flew off to heaven but it held together long enough to get through to burn the tree at the annual superstition run.
I think we need more people joining the tradition

Lost the star so I got a lighter, MUCH uglier fiber optic Santa. So far Costco plastic ornaments have held up well. Only lost two.
