Has anybody attempted this yet? I know there was a couple people who were going to in the past but never actually got around to it....

Aside from oil pan and steering clearance I would imagine the hardest part would be getting the width correct, specifically shortening the passenger side tube and a custom axle inside that tube to match the 1st gen width..... This would also be the most expensive part as far as I see it.

2nd gen taco's don't have 5.29's for their front clam shells (as far as I know), this would be my biggest draw back from running that as a front diff due to the 1st gen's slightly under powered motor... and at what point money and time wise do you just see if you can clearance enough for a 9" center section?

.... I'm excited for the day that someone attempts this!

Front long travel custom: king 10" CO, solid lowers, fabbed spindle, heimed everything ect. Rear still in progress, waiting to be put on: bilstein 9100s, T100 axle. Stock 3.4 engine, 4.30 gears.
Imo Do things right the first time, if you already plan on getting rid of the kit there is no point in buying it, it will only delay you getting the kit you want

x2... engage is meh and foa's are a huge pain in the ass. i only had their bumpstops and they couldn't even get those right... you'll be a lot happier and probably spend the same amount of money if you hunt around for a deal. if its worth doing, it's worth doing right, imo. dirt designs makes a sweet 4x4 kit too if that interests you

for the record i never said there was anything wrong with having a shop build your truck. all the more power to you if you can afford it. enigmadsm nailed it with his take on things. im glad to say i have no debt on my truck and am learning more every time i work on it. meanwhile you're having trouble figuring out how hard to press the skinny pedal.......

theres no dick measuring going on, i just think it annoys people when they're met with a completely unfounded and condescending attitude. if everyone told you what you wanted to hear, what would there be to learn?

but that's just my opinion, and everyone is entitled to their own. this is mericuh after all

I think thats the worst lt kit and shocks combination, save up a little more and buy a good kit/shocks.

Is the sensor loose or damaged for your Speedo?

Are you still running a stock fuel tank?

I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on the dirt king lt kit, Is anyone running this kit on here? I talked to nick at dirt king about having them build me a set with tabbing for secondaries and he said they've sold nine kits and no one was running them, but I think I'll regret it later if I don't do it. I really like the dtf kit but it might be overkill for my needs and not sure when the 4x4 kit is coming out. Anyone have any opinions?

    • Total Chaos Fab
    • Camburg
    • MCM Fab
    • Trac Performance
    • DTF Fab

Speaking of camburg. Assuming I get the two motors currently torn apart in my garage rebuilt in time I guess I know what my xmas 4 day weekend plans are now.

Hoping that cures this problem from happening much in the future.

Thanks for the input, just to clarify dirt king fab said they would do tabbing for secondaries for me but they didn't think it was necessary. I'm gonna pm dtf and see when the 4x4 kit will be available. His kit looks bad ass, I might just have to deal with being a super wide daily driver lol
