I think I'm 88/89 now. Thank god I don't HAVE to drive it on the street. Time to build a wider trailer.

What did that run? I am thinking about a 9" in the future but non full floater. My 2.7L and the way I use my truck probably doesn't necessitate me going to a full floater. Mucho less $$$ too.

You can be in a trussed 9 " with gears and discs for under 1500. Keep an eye out and piece it together if you have to. My current set up is under a grand with a spare set of axles. Thats a currie sportsman case, 488 gears, chromoly spool, disc brakes and 2 sets of axles.

    ALL OF THEM!...Then some more.

    lowest gear ratio is 4.88

i have thought hard about swapping a 2nd gen 8'' clam shell in. It won't fit without a LOT of custom work. To the point it isn't worth it and may as well do a center mount diff with a custom LT kit.

the diff is 1.5'' wider per side. Mounting location is about the same but you would have to either raise the motor or drop the diff to compensate for the taller case.

So you would have to end up with custom CV axles that would have to be custom length and spline counts because the 1st gens out splines are less by a tooth or two, can't remember then the 2nd gens. Plus you'd probably loose travel because you won't have a shorter CV axle then a real 3.5''+ kit. So..not worth it. may as well stay mid travel.

Or do a custom width kit with custom width axles and spindles and such. But fuck that. Just do a center mount while you are at it and get a bad ass real diff.
