No we actually had to test and work under a master for X hours for a journeyman and more X hours for a masters. Then every year take a course on the new codes. I haven't done electrical work for a Co. in years all I do now is help a friend when he get s buried with work.

As a General Contractor thats only signed with the Carpenters union we get into situations where we hire a non union contractor for one of the other trades on the job. One particular situation that sticks was a concrete outfit we hired putting an addition on a Costco. They brought in all mexicans, literally couldn't communicate with them. I was 40' up on the top of a refrigerator box, my partner took the lift down to use the bathroom. These dumb fucks fired up a gas demo saw in the building to cut the curbs in around the space. I was leaning over the edge screaming at them to shut it off while I'm literally suffocating. Luckily my partner got back in time to shut them down. So, it may be his company, but even one unskilled mechanic can put every other person on that job at risk.

No system is perfect, but with the training that every union worker is required to get, there is a much lower chance of deadly mistakes. theres probably a study out there that shows it.

This kind of shit is common with these idiots. They have no concept of safety. Plus they shit anywhere they want. No joke, behind a job trailor, beside a building, or if they use a port a john they shit on the seats.

i love working in the union. im a union electrician. wages are awesome benefits are the best out there and retirement is badass. the thing i like is no matter what shop you work for your pay will always be the same wherever you go and your raises will be the same. so there is no bartering wages. i work in local union 11. were so good were number 1 twice haha a little thing all our instructors at school say
