This is getting weird can anyone solve this. Here is what happened. Truck is a 2010 4.0 Trd

1)In 2012, truck has 20,000 miles on changed oil and drained 8 litres of oil out. So kept an eye on the oil level.
2)Did oil changes every 5-6000 miles and always measured around 5litres when i drained, everything good until 66,000 miles
3)did oil change this week truck has 66,000 miles and took out 7.5litres of oil out of engine.

All fluids r okay the only thing left i can think of is gas is getting in the oil, oil looks diluted. Also I always put in 5.2Litres when filling up and never add any oil between changes.

I cannot tell you why the difference, but If you had 2 to 3 litres of gas in the oil, which is over a half to over three quarters a gallon, the truck engine would most likely be toast. You might want to have the oil analyzed. Also 2 to 3 extra litres in the crank case would most likely cause some serious smoking or internal engine problems from piston slap.

That's extremely strange to drain that much oil.

If you drained into a clean pan and kept the used oil clean, I'd be sending in a sample of it for analysis. Do you ever add coolant? If not, I suspect you are correct, you have a case of fuel dilution on your hands. Is there a common denominator, like extreme cold, extended idling...? Have you lent your truck out where some dipstick that couldn't read the dipstick overfilled it?

And maybe most importantly for your wallet, was the issue documented with your dealer while still under warranty?

I don't think the truck would move with no oil in the tranny. :D

First of all a quart and a litre r almost the same. When this happened both times it happend in colder weather, Sinced it happened the first time I have constantly checked the level and even measured it when i did oil changes and everything has been ok until now. The only thing that i noticed is when i start it up in the morning in cold weather it idles up and down and even stopped on me once.
Could it be the airflow sensor causing the truck to run lean.

Is the truck in the same spot each time you change the oil?
Do you use a jack to jack the truck up?
Is the truck on an incline when you are changing the oil?

I park on a flat and level spot when changing my oil.
I don't use a jack, I crawl under and drain the oil.
I then remove the old oil filter and replace with the new oil filter.
I then fill the oil up to the upper mark on the oil check stick.
Then start the truck and let it run for about 10 secs. This fills the new oil filter. Finally I add more oil to the engine to bring the oil level back to the upper mark on the oil check stick.

Might be a slight head gasket leak letting water into the oil.

Excessively rich if anything, or a dribbling injector. How cold ambient temps are we talking?

How could transmission fluid get into the crankcase? Didn't think so.

All fluids have been checked and r good. When I look at the oil their is no distinct smell of gas probably because its absorbed in the oil. I could tell I had a problem right when I let the oil plug out, instead of falling nice in the pan it splashed all over and out of the pan just like my 1st time it happened. Weird thing is truck still runs good, no noticeable increase in mileage. Also with my business I do alot of oil changes on heavy machines and only time a engine increased in oil was when a hydraulic auxillary pump leaked hydraulic oil into the engine from a bad seal.

He's in Winterpeg, so water from the red river flooding is more likely.;)
