I have a sawzall, let's do it! I have thought on it some. It would be easiest to cut the frame and extend the wheelbase some up front. These motor mounts suck anyway.

Im pretty trimmed up right now. I could crank the front up a bit, but Id rather start collecting for some 60's and take her all the way :)

Sweet! It was just a link to the trail gear adapter to run gear driven cases. I was up in the Blues today near Battle Mt, muddy and fun but no snow.

$9500+cost of divorce=I'll stick to 37's. I didn't know they were that much! Cost wise it would be smarter to buy a new sled to keep in the back of the truck for when you get buried! Crazy. I hear they are a pita to install and you can't jump or run too hard with tracks...

Lots of bolt on chrome stuff
I've seriously looked at tracks. It would be nice to go where I want the 6 months of the year there's snow on the ground... but they're so damn expensive. Cheapest option was a company that used all snowmobile parts so you had 4 snowmobile tracks under you. They were under 10k new and parts would be easier to find. I decided it still wasn't that great of an idea because I didn't want to pack them out of town to a trail head and do a switch over there. They're heavy.

While googling around about them I found this- http://expeditionportal.com/mattracks-two-year-long-term-test/

I think they are just too heavy to install at home. I hadn't thought of that aspect, nor the point about the vibrations being bad at 25mph or faster... Where you are at they would make more sense for sure, but I'd have a dedicated snow rig and just leave them on it.

That article sounds about right. I had a set of tracks for my work quad last year and they would float over anything, but they were far from a smooth ride. That thing went the same places as a snowmobile but was a lot better for carrying equipment. I couldn't help but look into a set for my truck so I could have a heated cab though!

I'm glad this thread got revived. I really want 37s ugh. I'm planning on going with all-pro long travel. Think with 4 inches cut out of the front with massive cab mount chop would work? I Don't want to attempt if I have to cut out the tops and start relocating stuff under the hood. Or do run glass like T4C0CH40S? http://www.off-roadfiberglass.com/offroad/tactoy.htm Think they would work? I don't really want glass because I want to run a snorkel (also not crazy bout the look)
I want something that would work. I don't want to limit my uptravel. I'd rather have full suspension travel with 35s than limited rubbing with 37s. Thoughts?

So with your stock axle im the rear you were running 4:88s??? I thought you jad to change the carrier... what did your truck come with stock before regearing 3:70s?? I think its qhat I have and since its not geared on 33s... id prefer to gear it once and go as big as I can. I prefer to do lots of hacking than run a 6" lift with 33s :)

I did it with 3" of lift, cut the fenders, and relocated the body mount. I also installed a body lift. I can still stuff my tires, and my CV angles aren't ridiculous.

Only have to change carrier in the FRONT. http://eastcoastgearsupply.com/i-157223-tacoma-fj-8-reverse-ifs-clamshell.html

For the REAR you can just order a third member with 4.88 and bolt it right in. http://eastcoastgearsupply.com/i-131078-8-tacoma-fj-cruiser-4runner-e-locker-3rd.html

Is body mount relocation needed? Cant do a good chop? Do you have a picture..a underneath shop with wheel turned toward the mount at fill lock, or is that even sill posible with 37's?
