I recently went through the same struggle. We can all be pretty sure the 2016 will be better. Better MPG, more power, more space, better interior etc....

I decided to stick with the proven 2nd gen with most of the bugs worked out. Good luck with your decision. It's a nice problem to have ;)

Thanks for the support. If I were younger, would have bought the 2015, traded it when the bugs are ironed out, etc. I kept my last Toyota, a T100, for 17 years before selling. If this 2016 lasts that long I'll be 89. Not many men have to worry about a new vehicle at that age!

Honest question. Where does it say on any official Toyota site that the 2016 regardless of what it actually is will be available July-August of next year???? I don't see that anywhere. Also if there is any truth to that seems like that would only impact 2015 models drastically?

Tank prices ? No I don't believe so however impact them somewhat if actually released in fall 2015 yes I believe so...

Seems more logical to see it after November 2015...

    I'd opt for the 2016.

Even though I currently have a 2015, I'm debating the same thing. Got a Prerunner auto in magnetic gray and now wish I would have gone with a 4x4, 6 speed in black.

I am going to wait until the 2016 is announced (hopefully in Jan.) before I decided whether or not to shop 2015s or wait for the 2016.

Overall I'm happy with the 2015 and like the fact that most of the kinks have been worked out. But if the 2016 is drastically different (in a good way) I may take a chance on the first year of gen 3.

This is the most information I have seen regarding what will be new onthe 2016 Tacoma and from a reliable source, the Wall Street Journal:

    http://www.wsj.com/articles/toyota-to-roll-out-new-tacoma-truck-1417712596

A quote from the article: “The Tacoma will be unveiled to the public at the North AmericanInternational Auto Show in Detroit next month. It will go on sale after July of2015 and include a new engine, transmission, interior and exterior body design.”

The North American International Auto Show starts January 12th, 2015.

I read that article a couple of days ago, but when I attempted to read it again on your link, it said that I have to be logged in or a subscriber. It was a good article, best I've seen.

    Pro 2015 reasons:
    - Not first year run, so all issues are ironed out
    - It will probably be larger
    - It won't be discounted at all for at least a few months
    - I just got over $4K off my new '15

All valid reasons, but I'm almost 73, so this may be my last new vehicle. I'm hoping for a little more comfort in the 3rd generation Tacoma. If younger, I'd probably get the 2015 for the reasons you stated!

Absolutely, "DAD". Wait and buy the MOST expensive '16 to reward yourself for all the hard works and sacrifices you have made in your life.

I had same thoughts, but decided to get rid of my 06 and get 2014, very glad I did, I was afraid they were gonna blend some of the 14runner looks and make the new taco as ugly as the new stuff they been putting out. I believe I made right decision as I do not like what i see so far of the 2016.

After have owning many vehicles over the years, I find this to be true too.

Go with 2015. It's badass. And the 2016 will probably have cheesy LED running lights or something...
