    I'm admittedly not nearly as experienced as skygear, but my outlook has always been... if you're running a switch inside the cab for an external accessory you need a relay.

    I'm interested to hear skygear's answer though, it may provide some insight I don't have

    What bolts? The bracket to the truck is m8x1.25

    Brass bolts from the box to the mounting plate are #10-32 1/2"

    Everyone is right when it comes to relays. Depending on amp draw of accessory, ALSO depending on amp tolerances of the switch, and last but not least, the amp rating of the wire you are using.

    Sometimes people have just a few feet of larger gauge wire and will use that to reach the relays and then the smaller wire to run the rest of the way to the switching source.


    I will edit the OP next week, or sooner depending how these builds go. I post loos of useful info in this thread. Things just get list when not linked to the op

    On relays too. Sometimes there is a continuous draw of 10 amps and a burst of 25 amps to turn an accessory on. So there are lots of factors to consider.

    Yes sir, looks better than I had even imagined! Can't wait to get it in.

    Unfortunately, I really need to paint my mounting plate and, being in an apartment, I don't have a great place to do it but hopefully I'll be able to get it done soon. TacoDanes hood and bed kit are going to be the first things hooked up. I'll probably just use the fused connections for them.

    Also in transit is 100' of 9conductor speed wire for the switches.

    haha I know your pain. But if I can get anything from sliders to full skids painted I am sure you can get that little bracket painted ;)

    I really need a breather to get some of this thread organized! Plus the PDF finished up. You people are taxing my time ;) :joke:

    In transit to me is some 9 Conductor speed wire, Red Braided Loom, and now offering 0 & 4 gauge upgrade options for the fuse blocks. Solid Copper Lugs, Compression terminated and Heat Shrunk. Also protected with braided loom.

    According to a tech at Rigid Industries, 12 LED's or more - Relay.
    Compressor(s) Relay
    Fridge - Relay or not - personal preference


    I'm blanc, need to grab a small bite to eat and crash so I can focus later today on these.

    Working on LONG secondary harnesses to accessories / easy color coded wire to the relays / sheathed in braided loom - with weatherpacks

    -rear tailgater lights
    -dual hood ditch lights
    -dual bumper fog lights
    -light bar on roof

    No more taco life for me
    There has to be a more convenient way of wiring switches. As it sits now if I want to disconnect something I have to unplug it from the switches and I already had a tab bend on me. Thoughts?
