Highway, sorry. Check out Chevy's attempt to look good.
    http://www.chevrolet.com/colorado-small-truck/colorado-vs-tacoma.html

Look at how our truck has 70 more hp but only 500lb more towing capacity than this 10 year old truck! Only selling point is 5MPG which I would still take a Tacoma over the chevy.

Well if you say you've driven one I can't argue with you but the ones I've seen don't get those numbers. We were ready to drive our EcoBoost right through the dealership's front door. The Tacoma DOES have low numbers but the thing is, it's the same truck it was in 2005, so compare it to 2005 trucks-kicked their asses. Now that the complaints you addressed are rising to a head, boom, 3rd gen. They didn't have a need to change anything before and now they do, so it's not totally out of line to me. I'm so glad they're no longer riding coattails, but you have to consider that just because we just heard about it doesn't mean they just started it. They realized this problem among others probably years ago.

You mean 70hp less? According to the link. It's funny how chevy posted that. The Tacoma hasn't had any major changes since 2005 and it's taken chevy 10 years to build a truck that can "compete" with it? I'm sure it'll be short lived once the 2016 Tacoma comes out...hopefully. But some of the comparisons...really? Easy lift tailgate, come on. Backup camera it probably comes standard because didn't it become a requirement a while back that all 2015+ vehicles come standard with a backup camera for safety reasons? Other than that USB ports and remote start? Seems like those are all features that are available, just like the Tacoma's back up camera like chevy stated.

I was quoting Chevy when I said that. Let me rephrase.
"Look at how our Colorado has 70 more hp but only 500lb more towing capacity than this 10 year old Tacoma!"

Only selling point is 5MPG which I would still take a Tacoma over the chevy.

There, I said it correctly that time. :p

Happy with my taco. Bells and whistles are great for the ladies. I love the locking rear diff. Leave the heated seats and USB ports to the mini vans :)

Yeah that comparison was bogus. They didn't mention torque or anything to do with offroad which is a big part of the Tacoma. They picked meaningless things to make a long list. The bottom line is it is estimated for 5 more MPG and has slightly more towing capacity. That does nothing to stand up to the benefits of the Tacoma, and I don't mean to sound like a fanboy but the Tacoma has some really great aspects worth mentioning

I just traded in my cylinder deactivation direct injection sierra, let me tell you, I would not want a used one of those (hiccups with the engine not knowing what to do, transmission would jolt), went back to a taco loved my previous 2 second gens and love my new 2015.

I think all in all the mpg thing has a lot to do with how you drive. Even if the truck gets 30 mpg, and you drive it hard I wouldn't be surprised if you get under 20. I'm sure you could make a Prius get awful gas milage if you stepped on it at every light.

Negatory. A 30 to under 20 mpg drop? Nah
However you drive a Prius it will always get good mileage.

    Sounds about right!
Of course it does, but that is constant with the driver. No matter how you drive, the truck itself's efficiency always matters.

    Somebody posted this earlier:

    http://www.reddit.com/r/Toyota/comments/2hxcn8/2016_tacoma_details_from_toyota_dealer_owner/

    2016 Tacoma news.
From the mouth of the Owner/GM at my local Toyota dealer whom I've known for 15 yrs, and just got back from new product meetings recently.
Here's what he told me while I waited for my car to be serviced.
Should debut 1 year from now in the fall 2015 Oct/Nov.
All new from ground up. Toyota has clearly been working on this for a while and likely were waiting to see what the new Colorado was like so they can crush it. Probably why the new Tacoma dealers were promised last year for around now didn't happen. They want to get it right.
    Expect a Tundra-like interior.
No carryover engines! All new more powerful and efficient drivetrains including a new 3.5L V6 running on Atkinson cycle. 6 speed manual lives on.
I asked if the front looked like the fugly current 4runner and thankfully he said no, more like a Tundra, but still looks aggressive and all new.
Sadly just going on his word which has been accurate in the 3 prior times he leaked me info (Venza, FRS, all new Corolla). No pics but it can only be a matter of time before legit spy shots turn up or we see something at an auto show.

I will say, honda produces a very good v6 engine that uses cylinder deactivation. You cant tell when it changes over. It's very smooth and powerful. It's all about what the company invests in their product. GM isn't know to build the best products. Toyota has a very good history of building quality motors, so they could probably pull off cylinder management.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Never drove an Ecoboost, but drove a Ram 1500 diesel and it was pretty damn nice. Too big for me though and it's a Chrysler product, I would never own a Dodge truck.

Interesting image choice considering Toyota's history of voiding warranties for trucks caked in mud.
