Could this be it by chance?? Really putting her through her paces. And it's somewhat difficult to assess the front end after a wreck! Also hard to cross check the tailgate with the one from the leaked photo. Looks similar from the side anyway.

20% tint on the front windows. 8-15-13 Installed Icons front and rear with Dakars. 2012 4Runner wheels with 275/70/17 BFG T/A KO2's. Weather Tech mats front and back. Leer shell with Leer Locker and roof racks.

TashcomerTexas you we told exactly what I was told by my friend who owns a dealership here in Northern CA. Dealers were in Vegas a while back and were shown several pictures of the new Tacoma which he descried as aggressive as well as the other things you mentioned. I cannot wait.

I don't think Toyota will shell out that much money into dropping an engine like that into a Tacoma, and plus the Tacoma was meant to be long lasting and durable, and I don't think they will change that for a few mpg.

Crashed truck is a Canyon - everything matches. Maybe a Diesel tester or ZR2 suspension - who knows.

Of course. It bothered me too, there's a land cruiser prado right behind it too in the original picture so there's no way it would be a tacoma. Picture was taken in New Zealand I believe.

Now comes the wait! I think it'll end up taking down every other truck in the segment just like that.

Typically there is no starter involved. Wife drives a 2010 Honda Hybrid, it has a starter but it is not used to start the gas engine during stop-start situations unless the battery pack is almost depleted, or the ambient temp is below a certain criteria.

How it works, is there is an electric motor in place of a conventional flywheel. Under start-stop scenarios the the electric motor starts the gas motor via the battery pack. I'm pretty sure most if not all cars that are soft hybrids (not full hybrid like a Prius) use this method.

Otherwise yeah, a conventional starter would be toast in short order.
