Cool pics Ian, that creek swelling like that is pretty cool to see. My drive to work wasn't bad, I'm hoping to head up to Healdsburg and see how the Russian River is flowing through there today. My friend kayak'd the Santa Rosa Creek (I believe it's what it's called) last big storm and had a blast, but the cops weren't very enthused. Had a wetsuit, PFD and helmet. I'd be surprised if he doesn't do it again after the rain settles.

Just heard the storm is called "Pineapple Express?" Who the hell names the storms?

    Also, thanks!

Pineapple Express refers to a storm that comes from the Hawaiian Islands or around there. It's very warm compared to the storms that come from the north (arctic) and cold. Plus they usually bring a lot of water.

That rain you guys are getting is nuts! Bummer that it's all coming at once, though...no chance to sink in. Yay drought!

Both times that I've spooled my line I had the line hooked to another vehicle and someone else behind the wheel of my truck with their foot on the brake a little to offer some resistance while I watched the spool. The first time it wasn't super tight, and when I used the winch it sunk in in a few spots. I just re-wrapped it a month or so ago and my dad put quite a bit of foot on the brake, enough to see the front end of my truck dip down as the line pulled it down to where it was attached on his truck. Now it's nice and tight!

    Working in this weather sucks.
Im soaked to the bone even with rain gear and were working in 4"-6" of water with no stopping. Water pumps arent even close to keeping up and weve already pumped out acouple hundred gallons of water.

    I need a tall can

Heard on the radio Marin had a lot of knee deep standing water, as did everywhere else, even the Tiburon exit off of 101 south? Nothing too crazy in Santa Rosa, on the roadways I've been on today at least. Lots of flooding in the vineyards and open fields off of 101 here, though.

So is the rain suppose to stay steady like this? Getting better/worse tomorrow? I'm hoping for another day off :D

Windsor's forecast for tomorrow's rain should be around 1.5" during the day and .20" overnight. Daytime winds around 15 MPH with gusts to 40 MPH, overnight wind at 2 MPH with gusts to 20 MPH.

FWIW the forecast for today is nearly identical. :notsure:

I stood outside and shoveled leaves for an hour-in foul weather gear. I wasn't wet except around the edges and that sucked. Cant imagine working outside all day like that.

In the Central Valley and foothills, Sonora has been getting hammered from what I hear. Same with the Lockford and Modesto areas. South of Modesto doesn't sound too bad, but looks like it is about to get hit worse.

I hear San Jose isn't too bad yet depending on where you are.

Heavy rain in Placerville and Pollock. Nothing extreme, just a lot of rain. "Biggest storm since 2008"...big deal. We've been in a drought and haven't had any storms since 2008. :D
