I doubt its the same engine, look at the exhaust crossover. Completely different from the 2nd gens. They wouldn't change that If they were using the same drivetrain

 

plus why you gonna test towing with the same 4.0?

 

One thing for sure, would be easy to make that exhaust a "true dual" setup if you wanted to.

 

They wouldn't make it hang even lower than it already does if that was a complaint. Im telling you that thing has a new engine in it.

If they put in the shitty outdated 4.0 that came out 10 years ago in this truck then it doesn't deserve to sell. Not even the 3.4 lasted that long.

 

Its 10 year old technology, it is shitty by todays standards for modern engines. The Jeep 3.6 takes a huge steamy crap on your 4.0 in terms of power.

The only problem I see is that a new forrunner hasn't been announced. Since they almost share engines you know.
