What type of weather stripping did you use?

If you're asking me about the weather stripping, I just used some rubber weather stripping I found at the auto parts store in a roll. I didn't want to use foam cause it might hold water. Figured out would keep the pieces from chafing or rattling.

I bought one like this at home depot: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2n...s-tailgate-reinforcement-diy.html#post9460647 I didn't use it on the full length, more like 6"-8" (that's what she said :p) I look at the the two screws on top of the tailgate some people have said, it is in the way. After I installed the tailgate plate I could see on both sides the two screws wouldn't be in the way if I had install the plate with them still on.

Got my order in Thursday afternoon and didn't open the box until this afternoon and my hood hinge light brackets are not in the box with the tailgate reinforcement, but I will say that the tailgate reinforcement looks great and wish it would fit my new truck. I tried cancelling the order before it was shipped via email and telephone in which I left a message on the voice mail but neither was checked before the order was shipped out and now all I get was a "Whoops, sorry about that". The reason I tried to cancel is that I decided to purchase a new truck to better fit my growing family and would no longer need the accessories I ordered. What I would like to happen is I'll pay the price for the return shipping for a refund but I would like the restocking fee now waived. I was willing to pay that cost for the cancellation before it shipped out but now that I also did not receive part of my order I would like to return the part and just get my money back.

I don't want any hard feelings out of this deal, but I got a phone call after posting this from the guy who purchased the Tacoma I traded in and he might be interested in the reinforcement along with some other goodies I had in the truck that I removed before trading in. If he decides not to buy it over the weekend I'll send it back first thing next week. I also tried to call your shop this afternoon but all I kept getting was a busy signal that is why I decided to post on here to make contact instead. Thanks for taking care of this.

Thats strange you would have gotten a busy signal, I've received several calls throughout the day without hearing of any issues. Might double check you've got the number right :notsure:

It's the number on the invoice and I checked the website to be sure it was the same just to be safe after getting the busy signal. I thought it might have been busy because someone might have been leaving a message at the time I was trying to call but tried again several more times with the same result. No worries, its telephone and I work for a subcontract engineering firm for AT&T and I know how aggravating/sporadic the phone service can be in our area.

It stopped raining long enough here so I could install mine today.

I had to drill a couple of the holes a little bigger so that they would all aline, which wasn't a big deal, as my plate was aluminum and drill bits are steel. I decided to not put the plastic stock plate back on, so I didn't have to shave the bump stops at all. Toyota went uber cheap on the tailgate, all of the screws go into plastic "nuts" which is total garbage.
Great product Relentless. I have no worries now with loading dirt bikes or sitting heavy things on my tailgate.

got mine in today. still need to drill out one misaligned hole and get the screws to get rid of the gap. i initially installed but forgot to take out the two top screws and thought that may be causing alignment issues. took the tops screws out and 4 or 5 we still pretty off plus that one that one needs drilled. it looks like Relentless Fab fixed this issue now. the left latch on the gate is still not flush unless you slam the gate so i'll probably drill out any problem holes when i get the top screws and see if this makes closing the gate smoother.

Got it done today. Tailgate feels much beefier now even with the aluminum. I'm actually not afraid to sit on it. Thanks to all for the write ups and for answering questions.

I did reuse the OEM liner and strangely enough the gate closes perfectly with both bump stops removed completely.
This may be because after I broke off the 3 tabs I did not file them down completely flush. Either way, it looks perfect and even with the bump stops removed the gate stays securely shut with no play when driving over choppy roads.
