    Walter Payton, not to be confused with Sean Payton or Peyton Manning has been surpassed in almost every category by Emmett Smith. Is Walter Payton any less of a great back? No.

    Does anyone remember Walt's issues with other women? So saying that Walter Payton is a class act for his on the field play is undeniable but a little refresher his off the field dealings may say otherwise.

    I almost think we're at the point now where we honestly CAN'T name just one Best Position Player Ever any more.

    Look at running backs.

    Jim Brown? C'mon. Everyone after this is pretty much a candy-ass by comparison.

    Barry Sanders? Sweetness? Dickerson? Bo Knows Hip Flexors?

    All absolutely HoF caliber talents that played like no other. But they're such different kinds of back and played in such different eras of football that it almost isn't even fair to compare them any more.

    We're lucky that there are SOME things you can kinda fudge: Jerry Rice is the GOAT WR period end of discussion. I don't care who you bring up, even the modern day monsters like Megatron or yesteryears standouts. Jerry simply abides and is still at the top of the list 5 years later.
