Why so many DC SB purchases?

I have an access cab but was pricing a DC LB a few days ago just for fun. I sent one to a buddy of mine and we started discussing how it seems like most Tacomas are DC/SB. Why is that? I wish I had a full back seat because I've got two small kids that came along after I bought the AC, but I couldn't deal with the short bed. I don't even haul much around but I think it would annoy the crap out of me with a bed that was way too short for almost anything of substantial size.

I'm acutally looking for a DCSB because I have yet to see a DCLB with the manual transmission. The wheelbase is also the same length as the AC, so the turning radius is the same, and it's a more manuverable truck. And, personally, I think the DCLB's look disproportionate, just too long and skinny. The DCSB's are better proportioned to me. Even more so than the AC's... But that's a personal preference.

i got the DBSB for the room. its nice having 4 full doors. i used to own a 05 4runner and to me it basically feels like im back in a 4runner only with a bed. i also think it looks a little better than the long bed..thats just my opinion though...i know its sort of a friendly war around these parts on which is better...lol.

The short bed fits 95 percent of the stuff I need to haul. When it won't fit, I have a dump trailer for those types of things.

You can't get a manual transmission or a TRD Off Road in a DCLB.

Owners of the DCSB will tell you it's easier to drive and park. I have no issues with my long bed myself.

I'd rather have my 6 ft bed than a rear locker, personally, but the most off road my truck sees is some old CCC or logging trails.

Bought my DCSB b/c kids were in the plans so I needed the DC, and I wanted the TRD OR, which didn't come w/ a long bed in the DC.

DCLB just looks weird. The length looks out of proportion to me.

Wanted a truck so i could just chuck larger or dirtier stuff that wouldn't fit in my SUV. Liked having four doors for added interior space, and the possibility of kids. Also like the size of a midsize. The difference between a 5 and 6' bed is minimal. If you needed a larger bed, you need a larger truck. I have a trailer larger than a full size truck bed if needed.
