I liked the compactness of my xterra, so with the dcsb already being 2' longer, i didnt want it another 1'-1 1/2'. As i said, probably not well, if i wanted more space for a bed it wouldnt be a 6' tacoma, but a 8' full size. I suppose 1' can make a difference for some.

Staight answer ... it wouldn't fit in my garage ... had to choose DCSB or AC ... chose bed over back seat ... the only ones that ever ride in the jumpseats back there are my grandkids, that isn't very often, and they are still young/small. If I still had kids at home, the decision would probably have gone the other way. K?

I bought the DC/SB because, for me, it was the best of both worlds. Coming from a '12 Wrangler, I wanted easier access to the back seats, The ability to haul something in the bed, and the ability to tow more than about 1500lb.

The shortbed works great for me and the garage I have. Any longer and I would have to re-configure my garage setup of benches. That extra foot or so REALLY makes a difference.

If I had a long bed I wouldnt have a rear bumper anymore. I use mine to offroad and I need a shorter truck.

I could always buy a 6 foot bed if I ever need it:

Its all a matter a preference.

I personally don't like the Long Bed version. It doesn't look proportionate to me.

I can't decide which is the bigger fail, having to buy the goofy looking DCSB or having kids. What I do know is that combined is the ultimate fail.

I wanted a long bed when I was looking but in the end found a pristine dcsb that I couldn't pass up. Now I am so glad I went with the SB. I wheel the crap out of it and it already is too long. If I had that other foot to deal with on the trails I would be hating life everytime. Like others have said if you need a 6ft bed I wouldn't even get a tacoma it would have to be a full size truck.

    1) Have kids, sales lady actually said she would give me $100 if I could get my two car seats in and working correctly with an access cab. Said people come in wanting the AC all the time until they try to install their car seats. Then they swap to a DC.

    2) We live in an HOA-Nazi community now, were they bitch if your cars are in your driveway too long. My DCSB barely fits in the garage with about 8"-10" to spare. I have to remove my ball mount when parking in the garage. A long bed DC would have been out of the question.

    3) I like the shorter wheelbase for parking and maneuvering off-road. In my eyes the DCLB is so long, if I was going that route I would have just got a full size in the first place and prob saved some money over the Tacoma tax.

I can fit everyone in it. I hauls most of the stuff I need to. It lasts a long time, it gets good mileage, it has heated seats, it has turn signals in the mirrors and mine does not shimmy when I drive it. oops forgot--it fits in my garage.
