    ...too much shit to list.
This storm is amazing, simply because it's covering almost the entire state of CA (which is exactly what CA needs). But don't expect awesome snowfall from it at the resorts. It's just too warm. The snow level is going to be pretty high in elevation...which means sloppy wet snow (and a lower snow/precipitation ratio).
I'll take anything we can get. Sloppy stuff is great for filling in the cracks and boulders, but it's not a whole-mountain-opening storm.
Right now I just want the lake filled back up. Never seen Tahoe as low as it is right now. Piers and docks all run out to dirt...which basically happened over a week when they started pumping it out. Makes me sick

I'll take a shitty hard base this week and ski the 2-4" storms later on. It already looks so much better than last year.

I was just about to ask how it was looking up there with all the rain we're getting down here. If it snows enough thus year I'll be getting a new board to justify going up more. I'd really like to go up more then once this year.

Hey you guys. So I went yesterday to NS. Roads were shitty as hell; it rained, then froze over, then snowed, and we all know most people that visit the mountains can't drive. I saw 4 accidents as I was trying to get out of NS. But anyways.... Yeah like everyone is saying it's definitely wet, but the numbers that NS put up I can vouch for. I left at 430 and there was a solid 6-7 inches just in the parking lot and it was consistently dumping up top all day. They even opened it up to the top of Mt. Pluto. By the end of the day I was able to make little fresh tracks of powder. For early season snow it's not half bad at all. It is leaps and bounds better than what it was last year. I'm going up Sunday to Squaw and I believe Mon/Tuesday at heavenly if anyone wants to go.

I'm interested but I don't get any time off to myself now days, hardly get enough time to do laundry before heading back out on the road.

Tahoe sucks right now. Sierra Cement wherever you go. I was down in Reno today and it's colder there than Tahoe.
Resorts are doing there best, I will say that. Marginally better than last year. I keep doing my snow dances.

Yeah I agree. I went Sunday and Monday to Squaw. It was full of ice and crusty snow. Tuesday we went to NS, which was better, but not amazing. I am going on Friday I believe. Hopefully this storm will come in as strong as they say, so we can get some real skiing in. I am getting too damn impatient now.

    Nick,
Weird storm. People were surfing in Tahoe. Like strait up barrels. Wind direction was completely different. It went from west to north. So west shore got hammered. 8" to 2 feet of snow. NS got good coverage. Squaw too. Kirkwood got hammered but downed trees delaying their opening.
My buddy lives about 800 feet over me on east shore and he has 2" of snow. So I probably have 1" or less. On my last plane ride now so I'll get the skinny for sure once I'm home.
So anyone looking to ski, I would say focus on western resorts.

Not sure what kind of riding you do, but I Demo'd quite a few boards last year. I actually know the owner of http://thegoodride.com. He used to live about a mile from my house and we rode a lot last year and let me demo all kinds of boards.

Hands down my two favorite boards are the Jones Mountain Twin, and the Never Summer Cobra. I own the cobra but the jones board is the best all around board I have ever rode.

My suggestion is to look into boards that have both camber and rocker to them. Makes overall riding so much fun.

If you want, pm me your riding style, what style of board u think u want, height , weight, shoe size and anything else that can help weed out the vast list of boards out there and I can talk to James about it. He picked a perfect board for my wife last year and her riding skills have gone up 200%
