Been shopping for 2 years and have realized that
These trucks do NOT lose value.
I wanted a loaded TRD with all the bells.
What I can afford and need is a different issue.
    Going to test drive a
    2015 sr5 4x4 4cyl
Tested a 2012 6 cyl but they would not budge
    On price..
So for a couple more grand I think I'm gonna go
    New and have no worries.
    Any advice ?
    Thank you.

The I4 isn't terrible in the AC 4x4, I have the I4/auto in my DCSB Prerunner, which is close to the same weight I think. You'll probably be fine with it, just make sure you push it on the test drive and see if it's okay for you to live with.

    Have fun and good luck!

He lies.. if you're planning on lifting your truck though and getting 285s or something, the V6 is way better. My I4 was fine with 245s, but with 265/75s it's a bit weak.

Will they come down on the price if you tell them the 2016 redesign goes on sale in a few months? I'm not 100% sure but I think once a new style comes out the old ones come down a good bit

    That's what im stewing over.....
Is the 4 cyl going to give me enough power?
Guess I'll have give it a drive and see.
I've read that the fuel savings between the 6 and 4
    Is really not that different.
Has to be automatic, tried to teach the wife to
Drive stick and that almost ended the marriage.

If you're headed to test drive, you'll already answer your question about enough power. Power is totally subjective person to person.

2-4 MPG difference between the 2, you can figure, but depends on how you drive. I was getting 21-23 MPG combined and 28 MPG hwy with my truck with stock size tires. Now I'm down to 19.5 MPG combined or so, which is probably still a little better than the truck would be getting with the V6, but not drastically better, I figure now it's pretty close. Hwy MPGs might still be better, though.

It's a trade off. You'll know when you drive it what you can deal with. Drive the V6 4x4 AC and the I4 4x4 AC and see which feels best. The difference in monthly payment between the two is like $25? If that. I thought it was a $2000 difference in price.

I would say v6 and don't look back but it's up to you. If you decide the 4cyl is enough just make sure you're okay with how high it's turning at highway speeds, and consider what mods you will do. On this site you will most likely change something.

I've test drove a 4x4 AC auto I4, at 70mph the engine is running at 2200-2300 rpms. If anything the I4 is geared too tall for the heavier 4x4 truck.

I owned a '09 I4 4x4 access cab before I purchased my new TRD DCSB. The I4 was pretty pokey on the hills at altitude (I live at 7,000 feet). Towing a couple of dirtbikes would usually mean downshifting to 3rd gear on hills.

It's a slow truck, but the I4 is bulletproof. I changed oil every 10K and the UOA indicated I could have gone even further (6 quart sump FTW). I consistently got 21-24 mpg, and I have yet to break 20 with my V6. But the lack of power can be frustrating for some, and I have to admit I like the extra punch the V6 has.

I'm in love with my i4 2.7 2012 AC 4x4 on 265/75/16s. I don't tow or haul super heavy loads in the bed all the time though. If you're accustomed to a v6 or v8 vehicle then you probably won't be happy with the 4 cyl. At then end of the day, it's only a 4cyl truck haha. Don't expect race car numbers from it, and you'll be happy :)

lol whoever said power is subjective nailed it... The V6 feels slow as dirt to me, nice and torquey in first and 2nd but garbage trying to get up to speed on a freeway on-ramp.

Then again, 3 years of driving a WRX STI would do that... I'm not sure what's normal anymore, I just know this V6 needs a supercharger and soon otherwise I might just sell the thing
