There was a guy who would come in in sweat pants, hoodie with the hood up and tied tight around his head, a breathing mask, lifting belt, and gloves every morning I never once saw him do legs or cardio.

I haven't worked my way up to doing extremely heavy lifts yet so my belt just stays in the truck, but I'm pretty sure I would never have got 375 on squat with out it. My squats though weren't ATG just breaking parallel. Once I'm healed enough to start squatting again I'm just gonna start all over with going ATG.

Sometimes I think people wear belts just for the hell of it.

My hands sweat profusely, that is the only reason why. I didn't start off using them but almost had one slip out of my hand and that is why I went this route

Bigbackgrips.com That's what I use when I lift heavy for grip on DL's, shrugs, and bent over rows.

No chalk..I'm at home, I don't go to a gym. With my schedule I'd be lucky to get to a gym once a week since I work a second job, play in a dart league, and go to AA meetings at night.

My gym has a ban on Chalk powder,
One of my friends there simply takes chalk powder and makes his own liquid grip type solution. I forget the quantities but he takes chalk powder and mixes it with 99% Alcohol or rubbing alcohol and works like a charm. No mess

As for belts, i have yet to find a belt that works well for me. They all seem to dig in or give me weird bruises

I just use a stiff nylon nike one that I got a while back on sale and it's been pretty good so far. Not as much support as a leather one but it's way more comfortable with no pinching or bruising.

99-100% alcohols are too hygroscopic to use in the gym, probably 70-95%

Side walk chalk works too. Buddy of mine just carries around a stick of it. Kinda funny when you first see it, but works.

Think I'm gonna start trying to use chains on bench and squats. Anyone use them?

We have them at the gym, but they keep them locked up in the crossfit room (I've never seen them use them...but they keep them in there anyway). Gonna try to get them to putt hem out so the normal folk can use them. If not, might have to buy/make my own.
