What are you doing for the rear end?

The solo kit is a waste of money unless you're going to build the rear end to be able to keep up with it. Which realistically means linking it.

if you build your own shock hoops and dont upgrade to the boxed upper arm the solo kit is "only" $5300

for perspective a camburg kit with axles and parts that are included with the solo kit like heim steering; will set you back about $4400

That's what was I was thinking. I feel the extra 1000+ is worth it for those hubs

I have the Solo kit and it takes EVERYTHING like a champ with the limiting factor being the rear (DMZ spring under). Both Sully1981 (he has the 4x4 19" kit) and I will be going links in the future just to try to maximize the potential of the front end. Ive heard from numerous people outside of solo about the Solo Tacoma with the satellite phone and links can keep up with about anything.

I went the Solo route due to the kit and the reputation the shop carries. Its nice having a peace of mind with a company that has been around for 20 years.

Opinions please: Which would be better for a rear LT setup? a 2.5" 4-tube bypass, or a 3" 3-tube bypass? Both are nearly exact same price. (King/Fox of course)

Cool man thanks for your insight, it definitely helps hearing from someone running the kit.

    For leaf springs?
Why not just get 2 tube 2.5's and 2.0 air bumps instead.

Yes for a SUA kit like DMZ. I was planning on having air bumps either way. Aren't more tubes better? Or is that just overkill?

3" gets my vote. The extra oil volume really helps them stay cool, and maintenance intervals are extended quite a bit over 2.5's.

I'd say make the call based on the weight you carry (and consequentially how much valving you'll need). Rebound valving is so light on leafs, it's just compression valving. Username is dead on with the rebuild intervals and extra oil, but I guess it will just depend on how hard you plan on beating on it.

The other thing to keep in mind is the king 3.0 only comes with the pure race viton seals (rather than your choice of buna or viton with the 2.5s). In our climate up here, the viton seals leak in cold weather until the shocks warm up. I rebuilt my rears with viton last January and replaced them all back with buna a month later because of it.

As for the extra tubes, sure it's nice to have more if you have the coin, but you're still gonna have leaf springs. Rebound tube(s) is going to be opened up all the way no matter what valving you run.

I will say that I do like the larger tubes the 3.0's come with. But you can do something custom if you want. King will build anything. My rear bypasses are a 2 tube 2.5, but I have the larger pure race series compression bypass tube.

    This dude ^^^ is right

You won't want the rear setup of your truck being the limiting factor. Bucking is not good.

So unless you are gonna 4 link the rear...wouldn't get either "race" kit. The DMZ kit will never keep up with those big travel front kits.
