Had some local issues with some other remotes. Change the battery to an authentic maxell from japan and the problems went away. Issue I saw that the remote(Lexus) seem to go to sleep after not being used for a long time. Once I press it about two times, it would work fine.
As for range I have no clue on the flip key.

The range is not as great on v2 as it is on an OEM remote but Its way more than 10-15 feet.

Also try to press and hold the button until the car reacts. Don't just press and release immediately

The flip key uses CR2032, anything at the store should be good. The ones you have to be careful with are the ones being sold on eBay. I now only use Maxell, price and quality is the best. Most maxell sold on eBay are fake.

Wow what an adventure this key has been since I ordered. Ovnsif sent the key immediately after I sent the payment. I received the key yesterday to me in Canada and the package was mangled and was covered in a plastic USPS bag saying sorry we damaged your package. It looks as though it was run over by a car, or got stuck in a conveyer belt and was ground down with black residue everywhere. I opened the package and the key was in pieces. The plastic body is gouged pretty bad, but I put it all back together and they key seems to function. Today I went out to get it cut and I got shot down by 3 different key cutters. One is a locksmith who quoted me $50 to cut the key. I told him that's ridiculous and asked why- he just said that I had a $350 key and that's what it costs. I told him to forget it and walked out. The other two places I went were just retailers with a key cutting machine. They both asked if it was a transponder key and said they can't do it. I'm running out of options. My home town doesn't have a lot of locksmiths or key cutting retailers. Is this key hard to cut? I've told all businesses that if they mess it up, it's on me. What is the problem?

The reports I get back is a big percentage get key cut for free. Average price I would put it about $2 dollars. $50 to cut a key that takes about 20 seconds to do is ridiculous!

That's what I've said all 3 times. It seems they are all scared to cut the key. I'll try again tomorrow at the big box stores and another lock smith. Thx for the suggestions

If it's a home cheapo then be advised that I had one of these keys cut there and it didn't fit after. Their key cutters are not the most accurate.

Get it cut by VIN at the dealer (bring ID and proof of ownership). That way you can be sure you key will work.

Not always the case...depends who places the key in the machine. Any mistake and the code cutter will cut it wrong.

I speak from experience as I ruined a lot of my own keys when I was learning to use the machine.

I have heard that some places can "run it through twice" and it may fix a bad cut, but I can't verify

I think that's a deburring process and not a second cut. Any time I've had it ran twice it's been a "clean up."

Deburring is different. I think what he means is they run it through a different properly calibrated cutter.

Some cutters don't cut deep enough. This is a good mistake. Yuo can take key somewhere else so they can cut it properly.

If the cutter cuts too deep, your screwed. No way of fixing this.
