    hey guys,
Last night my truck was broken into. They opened the door which we are pretty sure was lock, and no alarm went off. Does anyone know how or if this is possible? It looks like they leaned up against it behind the handle against the access cab door.

Not good at all. I'm wondering if they found a weak link in the door assemblies. Hope all your belongings survived. :(

The alarm system cannot be trusted. We had 3 broken windows at a local meet. Once we found the trucks vandalized we reached in to unlock the door via the broken window and sure enough, the Taco didn't make a sound. Very sorry to hear bud, an aftermarket alarm system might be a good invesment. I hope nothing was taken.

I used to be a tow truck driver and broke into a lot of cars to get the keys locked inside, sometimes with a kid or pet in the backseat. I've never set off a factory alarm and it never took more than 30 seconds. Look along the door frame and watch for pry marks.

Does your truck have an alarm? I have a 14 and all it has is keyless entry. I found out last month when someone broke into mine.

    This!
Most of the cars now a days have keyless entry. That's not an alarm.

Try this. Sit in your truck, with key in hand lock the door. You would be able to open the door from the inside without unlocking the door. No alarm will sound

I thought I had an alarm as well, for the first couple months.

Toyota pulled the OAT sensor/display equipment on the new '14+ Tacos, never mind giving an alarm.

Thanks for the info, i kinda figured it was easy to get around. Luckily they didn't do any damage to the truck, but they did get some cash, wifes ID, first aid kit, and a camera with pictures on it. I ended up getting a security camera to watch the driveway. Hopefully that will deter someone from doing it again, or hope catch someone if it happens again.

Pretty sad that nowadays you need to set up camera systems to monitor your house. A very popular thing around these parts as well.
    Some people just really suck.

I don't think mine has an alarm, either.

I also find it amusing that if I try to start it with an unchipped key, it will crank over endlessly. My Subarus were smart enough to not even crank if it didn't see the chip.
