Umm... I've never had trouble finding mixed drinks really, you can't buy bottled liquor anywhere but a liquor store, but yeah you can usually get mixed drinks/liquor around slc, not too sure about moab. I always just bring all my beer and such in the cooler it's cheaper that way ;)

Did you rebuild the hole exhaust system or just cut out the old muffler and replace it?

A mixture of both. I cut out the old muffler and about 3ft before it as well to and tucked everything up higher. The muffler is tucked up high near the bottom of the box, out of harms way. I've still managed to crunch in the muffler though. It has some big dents in it

Any news on the sas? I've been highly considering it but I have some draw backs now and questioning doing it.

Well....no more SAS. For now anyways. I'm going to do Moab again this year with IFS, along with Rubicon and Dusy. I still have 80% of the SAS parts, minus the axle. Which is sitting in kelowna at my brothers place.

Bottom line is there are zero trails around here that require such a heavily built rig. And I can't afford to keep going south across the border to run big rocks like Rubicon 2-3 times a year. If I lived in Cali then I would have it done already. IFS is so much more driveable. Let alone, the laws here require you to have 4 mudflaps and each tire covered by a fender flare. So 40's with big ass fender flares and mud flaps is going to look pretty silly. We all get hassled enough as it is for not running flares and flaps.

I'm ordering 5.29's this week, and I have a line on a ARB for the front. The truck is a little goat as it is, so the new gears and having the front locked will be plenty for me. Whatever I can't crawl, I'll go around :)

Nice. I agree. Sas would be nice but LT ifs is the way for me. Plus driving to the trails is a 6hr journey for me

Dang you hit my feelings spot on tanner! There's nothing really around here I haven't done ifs open/open that said lockers would make it a lot easier and allow me to do harder lines. But I think for where I am sas is just a bit over kill and I'm worried it would take the fun out of wheeling locally.

Having the front locker is going to help a ton. For me at least, as it's nice to have 4 wheels working with you when the snow is 3+ft deep. And I much rather have IFS for snow wheeling AND the driveability to and from trails. Mostly down south.

Yeah I just got back from wind rock, 5 hours away where we probably logged close to 100 miles off road. There was a couple black double diamond trails I know I could have done with at least one locker. I did most of them but had to turn around about midways. We don't have as much snow here but more mud and nasty slop

Yuck! Mud is the worst hahaha. I'll take a 20 minute detour before I have to go through a deep mud hole.

i will almost x2 that lol.

I have an ARB sitting in the garage for the front, and a few other plans for the truck...and im going to try and push this IFS pile of shit as far as I can get it. But thats because its not really feasible for me to SAS it for 2-3 more years. Most of the trails I run are 35s 1 locker min and just go up from there, so I could certainly use that SAS. But i wont get it for a while.

    agreed!

You know what I want to do.....is mock up a PSC full hydro system. Get rid of the steering rack, and fab up a solid mount to mount the hydro to. Then just run hiems to the lower ball joints. PSC already makes a pump for the 3.4, just need to come up with a way to run the full hydro. I mean...if Campbell and Healy can run full hydro, no reason I can't haha.

You can get a hydro assist rack for ifs, but it's $$$$$$$. At that point it'd be more cost effective to just sas the truck. Do it simple with FJ80 suspension and it'll keep it capable but still a challenge at the same time.

That sounds do-able. Only you'd be getting rid of the mechanical link in your steering so if you lost a line somehow, you'd be up shit creek without a paddle. Just a thought! It's rare that you see any kind of failure in a fully hydraulic system that has been built properly but you never know on a street driven rig that sees a lot of miles.

First of all, stoked to see Stumpy rolling on 5.29s and that front RD90.

Interesting discussion on the SAS vs. IFS. I know we have chatted about it a bit already but I completely agree. We dont need 37's+ here or a SA to have fun. Our local stuff is typically more Expo style adventuring with the od "tough" obstacle. If we want to do a big trip with rocks etc, we drive 15+ hours.... the IFS pays for itself on the drive down and back IMO.

Thanks for the tip on the other parts. Picked up the 4.56's and RD129 yesterday. Really excited to be dual locked and bash some snow (if we get any). Let's get out and brraaap in the new year!
