Tyson's and Fairfax told me they aren't equipped to do the campaign if it's the spray, which quite frankly I wouldn't want done given the pictures posted. I didn't think of Warrenton, have you contacted them? I talked to a guy at Chantilly, which is roughly the same distance as Warrenton would be. As far as Miller, they are definitely off my list; the Manager at Fairfax told me Miller is equipped to do the spray.

That's pretty good advice. I'm working with a friend that is a pretty prominent used car dealer here. He's friends with the owner of the Toyota dealership and is going to try to help me out. If that doesn't work, then I'll just register the car with my brother who lives in VA and they'll have to fix it anyway. Hopefully my letting them know that I'll do that if they don't fix it here will make them realize they can't get out of it.

couple of photos of a tundra getting a new frame, looks brutal if you ask me. service tech said there were 17 tacomas/tundras in the shop waiting for new frames. This Tundra has been in since September.

I would not be surprised if Toyota changes the LSC after they admit that the frame issue is MUCH MUCH more of an issue than they can handle. My feelings, after reading all the various posts and responses on TW, leads me to believe that the rust out problem will eventuall occur with "Most all" Tacomas with the timing linked to environment (Snow, Salt, etc ....). Or, to put it differently, The Longer it takes to replace all these frames, the larger the backlog will be and the more frames that will eventually rust out.

Now, What they can/will do I can only speculate, but I think the volume of frames will be huge. It has been suggested herein that Toyota cost for the frame swap is about 10K per vehicle. I realize that Toyota has received settlement dollars from the Frame supplier - but There has to be a limit on how long and how much Toyota is going to spend on this issue.

As stated previously, how Toyota could let bad frames continue to be built on is way beyond my business math .....

All the more reason to get it done NOW because they could pull the plug.

If I had to guess, there's probably a lot more compensation involved. If this didn't have some sort of positive end result - they wouldn't do it.

The toyota bean counters & the suites have sat down and figured out all the logistics. I'm pretty sure they know exactly what they're doing and they're not suffering.....

    They can't pull the plug.
They all but admitted frames are defective. They are liable.

I just picked my truck up a couple hours ago after the frame replacement was completed. So far, so good. Everything looks great, the truck drives as it should and is quiet and tight. Here is a quick recap:

Oct 1 - frame failed inspection. Received 4-6 estimate for replacement work to be completed.
Nov 12 - dealer has frame but the installation kit is backordered. No idea on ETA. Truck has been sitting for 6 weeks.
Nov 18 - I turned in my loaner car and retrieved my truck. Call me when you have all the parts.
Dec 8 - drop off truck and get new loaner. Job should be completed 4-7 days.
Dec 12 - pick up truck with all work completed. Happy camper.

    Had my frame inspected Thursday!

Yup! New frame on the way! LCAs included! 2 months, or so, I'm told, to get it! 3-5 days to install!

It was suggested that I get a new steering rack and gas tank straps, that they may be damaged during the dismantle! I'm OK with that! 178,000 miles is a pretty good life!

I'm also considering upgrading to Icon extended travels while things are apart!

I crawled under and looked by the cats where most folks are having issues. Mine is solid as can be. I think I'll wait before inspection.

The hole they found in mine is in the bottom of the frame near the pass. cat! Right near the gusset for the crossmember! I'll try to get a better picture later!

They can't pull the plug NOW. But if you wait too long......

The 1st gen trucks had a 15 year frame rust warranty until they 'suddenly' dropped the campaign last year (or so, can't remember the exact date).

So yeah, it is possible they could pull the plug at some point many years down the road. Or.... when?

Mine looks a lot like greyeyzz's, but no perforation. I'm going to wait as long as I can to get inpected. Unfortunately, I may have to replace the LCA's just to get an alignment due to rust issues. Every time we've put a wrench on this truck, something has broken because it's rusted in place.
