2016 Tacoma social media leak

I hope Toyota knocks this out of the park. With the Chevy / GMC and the new Tacoma next year that means I can walk into the Nissan dealership and demand 50% off a Frontier.

What's really funny is, people cry for luxury trucks, so the companies do it and charge out the ass for it, when you can just add the amenities that you want yourself for probably half the price, but people these days have that 'I want it now' attitude and don't want to spend the time it takes to build a truck how they want it, they just expect the dealerships to do it for them

 

Amen! I always tell my buddies that the "car people" who think its cool to ride around in trucks have ruined trucks for the "truck people"

 

absolutely right. the honda ridgeline is a perfect example.

 

Detroit auto show press preview is January 12. Super bowl Sunday, is January 15. Toyota will have an advertisement for the new tacoma that night, 2 days before the Detroit auto show is open to the public.

I fine it odd that people think with today's technology you can't have luxury and a real truck. I'm pretty sure they can build a truck that can tow, handle a payload and not ride like shit. I use my truck for work so I want both, I want it to ride nice and still be able to haul heavy loads. I want it to look good and have lots of features inside. I want it all, not some old school truck and not an SUV.

 

Can't see it being till 15-17th to actually see pics and details. With this much hype should see something from press on 12th.

 

Super Bowl is Feb 1st. 15th is probably the AFC/NFC championship

 

I'm with you, nobody wants faux wood trim and chrome accents...but for over 30k a guy should be able to get a heated seat or mirrors.

 

Agreed, some people want to live in the past like their high school days or something. I'm sure seat belts, air bags and anti lock breaks make it all "less of a man's truck". Oh brother.

While I don't want unproven technology (and Toyota rarely does that anyways - that's in part why there reliability is so high) they should remain somewhat competitive with their rivals out there.

I don't understand why Toyota and on that subject Nissan do not update their smaller trucks more often. Hell they will update some gawd awful piece of crap like the Juke (Nissan) but leave the Frontier alone for 10 years. Same thing goes for Toyota...... This truck better be good or else......

 

To be honest I could do without the POS ABS on my truck but I'll keep the seat belts for when I'm off the dirt.

 

There's a simple answer: tacoma was one of the best selling trucks. Why update it when it was owning the market?

I'm pretty happy with the current generation. yea there's a couple crappy things that could be upgraded with it, but a couple hundred bucks and a little work and I can have it perfectly how I want it. I'm cool with not paying an extra couple grand to have heated seats and mirrors straight from the dealer.

Because they saw that their ownership of the market is going to start waning (and is if you look at the latest stats) with the introduction of competition. There is a reason we are not driving Hilux's anymore.
