Damn I miss this truck. My buddy is the guy who originally built it. It's works pretty damn good and has a lot of good parts. I did wrap the rear driveline around the links when the pinion sheared off on me doing 102 down main in Lucerne. Now I don't drive other people's trucks. Lol

Travel numbers don't mean anything. A truck with TC front kit and 16" travel out back with the dmz kit with VERY WELL tuned shocks and bumps will blow a shitty valved truck with the solo kit and links out of the water.

If you are just looking for a fun truck to bang around in while hunting. The TC kit or so,ething similar with secondary shocks and bumps with the dmz with doubles and bumps will be plenty.

I bet it does run. I'm sure wadding up the driveline at speed was a fun ride.

I am running 4"x2" bumps on my Tacoma with F67s and a few people have suggested shortening the bumps to 2" stroke vice 4" so I don't engage the bumps as soon.

I know it's possible but what do you guys think about it?

Almost positive both trucks got trailered out to the dez so if anything breaks you could just load it up on the trailer and call it a day. Which is the nice part about it not being your DD

Depends on how heavy it is out back. At ride height how much room is there between the strike pad and the bump? I'm running 4" stroke bumps, but I sit a little stinkbug.

I have a full spare, but I only take it with me if I'm going by myself in BFE. Being 4wd I can always just limp home in Fwd, if I was 2wd I'd have it with me all the time.

Same, I'll carry it for the Parker pre run this year or any other trip where breaking one would mean the end of your day or a long night haha but I also trailer my truck a lot of places now

I have 6-7" from the strike pad to the bottom of the bump stop at ride height. Total travel bumped and strapped is right under 16".

I have one 33" spare, aluminum jack, and gas tank in stock location. Not much weight.

I'd thought about contacting Deaver to get some more arch on this pack or a different pack but I don't want it to be too stiff either since my truck is so light.

That sounds about right to me. The only time I can bottom out the back is on really hard G-outs. You know, the ones that make your eyeballs feel like they are popping out of your skull and make your kidneys hurt. I think the trick is to valve a schoche on the soft side and let the bumps work. They absorb the load in a very progressive way. Like say it takes 2500 lbs of force to get them half way through the stroke, it might take 10,000 pounds of force to get them bottomed out. I think the shorter bumps are much harder to tune too, and most guys just end up erring on the side of caution going too stiff on them, leading to the dreaded mule kick syndrome.

Thanks for the gouge. My rear shocks still need to be revalved lighter but I don't buck very much. I havent used the last few inches of shock travel during my trip to Lucerne or Ocotillo.

Time to take them to Micah at DSM to let them work their magic.
