You guys should all look up the word "subjective" in the dictionary. This is kind of like arguing that blue is the best color. Kinda fun watching y'all though, so carry on!

    Enjoy the sun

I'm on an incredibly shitty Internet connection. 1-2 kb/sec tops. I'm just happy that anything uploads from here even though it takes a solid 2-3 minutes. There aren't many maples on the coast from the few times I've been there, whatever tree he wants to shove in whichever of his holes is fine with me. If OZ wants to play school master, yet again, he can have his fun. Anyways I'm done checking work emails, you kids have fun.

Edit: shitty connection = I've only read a page or two of posts. Lots of talk of higher speeds in the last few pages OZ.

    Yeah except...
If you are on uber slippery hill. Trying to roll down, even at 1 MPH at the top, once ABS kicks in you will be going faster and faster.
There is just no stopping your vehicle on slippery hills, because as soon as you press breaks one or two front wheels will slip by a fraction which triggers crazy ABS to release your brakes allowing now your 5000 LB truck to be dragged by gravity. While now your truck has even more momentum ABS tries again sees one wheel slip and lets go of your breaks. This is now getting repeated hundred times a second rendering any breaking impossible .Thus allowing truck to go faster and faster.
By the time you hitting bottom of the hill you feel like Evil Knievel. Doing like 50 MPH on pure ice trying to control your vehicle.
    :D
    Oh what fun...
I get this every year if I don't disable ABS. I mean heck winter is starting so I may make video of it when my place get all iced up, because it looks funny and it will get your blood pumping for sure.
You are like O..s .it OOOOO s... hit
    :D
Trust me initial speed plays little role.

First time it happened to me I was all panic mode now I am like William Fitchner behind that truck

Would setting the parking brake while sliding down an icy hill or steep gravel/sand hill cause problems or help?

Guess I've been lucky. I never had a prob with The ABS in my 2006, even after they flashed it for the brake override switch recall. I drive in snow every winter. (live at 4400 ft.)

    Oh, hell no.
If you do this your rear end will try to swing left or right and when you counter with steering wheel that wakes up real monster called VSC.

So lets say you punch rear brake and rear end swings to the left,
............you counter with steering wheel to the left to continue going straight,

Thats where VSC kicks in,...... it sees steering wheel to the left and its like

"Ah party, I see you want to go to left but my accelerometer sensor tells me you going forward, here let me fix this"

Releases break on the right wheel completely and applies break to the left wheel to twist truck around on axis.
That sends rear end violently to the right and if your left wheel catches any snow now going sideways you are doing 360eis down the hill.
I can't wait for drive by wire steering wheel, I hope they build ejection seats with that.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
That is exactly what I want it to do.. build a mound of snow and I am slowed the f down. "Ice pucker" (that's a good name for it) what is the reason and function of having this ice pucker and the wheels not stop? What Liberal thought of this and why, I wonder.

Ha ha that explains why they prefer ability to steer, since there is usually plenty of room in flat airport. :D not to mention team of people snow plowing around the clock to keep runway clean.
Next stop we will talk about:
How to use our emergency solid fuel thrusters ported from Space shuttle to keep your vehicle on the road.

Works well if the landing is reasonably long and straight and no airplanes are parked in front of you, I guess.

As I said before, I've personally experienced the SLOW speed ABS "ice pucker". On a hill, accelerating, with the brakes doing their own thing...

I found four stock steeliness on CL, and will be ordering four studded snows tonight. Both my, and my Fiance's parents are hours away and could need us at any time. I need to know that I can get to them without my ABS trying to kill me...

The Goodyear Authorities help a LOT in snow, but I know on ice, I'm going to need studs or chains.

This author describes my Toyota A.I.P. experience, perfectly. Throw in a feeling of sphincter oscillating a hundred times a second plus a couple of "F$#×@ me!" and "What the f$#×@?!"

Hey thanks. I already ordered Firestone Winterforce tires with studs though. I've run these before with great success. The last truck I used them on was a 2WD 84 F250 with a locked rear. That thing was actually pretty great in the snow with those.

This explains perfectly what happens to me on the snowy hill to our house every day! I absolutely HATE the abs on my 05 in snowy conditions. I can see the benefit in every day dry road conditions, but on snow and ice its horrible.
