so.... This past week I have seen sleet, freezing rain, inches of slush, and feet of snow along with some hard packed snow/ice. These tires performed excellent! I travelled about 600 miles within the last week and can't say enough about these tires. Held great and felt planted on hard snow and ice. They tracked straight in 6"-10" of the wettest snow/slush you could imagine with Cars off the road and people driving 25mph. On stretches by myself I felt comfortable doing 60mph. I also saw 1'-2' of powder witch is where these performed the best. They held fantastic on the cold dry snow.
Felt very confortable and had a ton of confidence in all these conditions. I will say that I wonder how much of a difference my 255's make over my 275's especially in that slush...
These tires out performed those BFG's by a mile!!

Do you have any weight in the bed? When it snowed here last month, I found that they were great in powder and slush, but I would still slip on hard pack snow/ice. Part of that may just be that I have extra weight up front (plate bumper/winch) and nothing in the back to balance it out.

I agree that these are better than the BFG rugged fails and even the BFG AT KO's that I had before.

Just from looking at the tread is looks like the Duratracs would be superior in the snow/ice. All about the sipes and there are at least double the amount in any cross section.

No weight in the back. When starting from a stop I think any tire will spin a bit without any weight. I think a couple hundred pounds in the bed and this thing would never need to see 4WD haha

Can't copare to the Duratracs but these things destroy the BFG AT KO in wet and snow. Can't comment on mud.

I just replaced my Duratracs with the ST MAXX. The ST Maxx is a far superior tire in my opinion. The difference in road noise alone is worth every penny. The ST performed flawlessly in the recent mud slides in Big Sur.

Saw some ST Maxx on a gen1 today. For some reason they dont look as impressive in person as they do in pictures. May have just been a weird truck though. I still want them.

    I updated mine ^

I find that review a bit biased. I can't compare them to the Duratracs but they are far and above better than the review he gave. Not sure if he's a duratrac fanboy or they are that much better :notsure:

Haha I'm still trying to convince my wife on these things. It would be HC rear first though. Then I would probably need to regear to gain a little more pull in the mountains with all the extra weight, at which point I might also install air lockers front and back since it will all be apart. Then I would put on the bedrack and RTT, and by then maybe my ST Maxx would have worn down enough to warrant replacing them with 35's :D

He has lots of other reviews of other tires on his site. He bashes some tires, list the reasons why and really likes some other tires.

Do you think it's biased because his opinion is different than yours?

I like what I've heard about the duratracs, I really liked what I've heard and read about the ST Maxx. I don't disagree with him because its different than my opinion, I disagree because I have ST Maxx and have been more than impressed with them. If you read my short review I can't compare the duratracs because I haven't tried them. I also wondered if its possible that the Duratracs are that much better? I haven't tried these in all conditions and won't speculate until I do. I'm curious if the duratracs are better because if they are they must be insane because I'm really impressed with these.

Looks sick Vin ^^^ hope to have my ST's wrapped around some SR8's someday

Love these tires. I have 30,000 plus on them and they still look and feel great. Not a whole lot of noise either. 265/75/16 on stealth 5 in matte grey.
